Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils Burgundy Reverso

The Reverso Burgundy is the second chapter of the Tribute Small Seconds, which was born, last year, with a blue dial.

Unveiled at the last Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, this Reverso features an arresting burgundy brushed dial with a sunray finish – A first for the Maison. On it are perfectly legible applied markers and dauphine hands. The small seconds at six o’clock brings perfect balance to the aesthetic appearance of the watch.

The watch is set in a stainless steel case—45.6mm in length, 27.4mm wide, and with a thickness of 8.5mm. The signature triple-groove detailing on the vertical extremes of the watch gives it the classic Reverso look. Paying homage to its polo heritage, the watch is fashioned with a matching calf leather strap from Casa Fagliano, a renowned equestrian footwear and saddlery manufacturer from Argentina.

In keeping with the original Reverso, which could be flipped over to its steel side in order to protect the glass, this edition also reveals an undiluted expanse of stainless steel when reversed. This protects the watch from shocks when playing a high contact or high shock sport such as Polo, Football, etc.

This modern tribute to a historical horological creation is powered by the manual-winding Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 822/2 that provides a power reserve of 45 hours. A fairly straightforward movement, made in-house in Le Sentier, this calibre beats at 21,600vph and provides indications for hours, the minutes, and small seconds via a richly-coloured dial.

The first-rate calf leather strap has been made by the Argentine bootmakers who are known to have created some of the finest leather boots in the world, especially meant for polo and other equestrian activities. Luxurious, yet exuding a sportiness of its own, the strap created by the legendary Casa Fagliano, truly boasts its maker’s exclusive expertise.

Going by what the original advertisements for the piece read—with the dial visible, it’s a city watch, and with a flip, it transforms into a sports watch. One of the chic-set timepieces that were not only ahead of its time, but was one of the first of its kind to blend sport and luxury, this watch truly did emerge as a trendsetter in its own right.

This boutique edition in particular, in rich burgundy, lends a whole new dimension to your personality, to say the least. The pure design elements with pared-down details, enhance the attractive hue, making the timepiece a head-turner from the word go.
