Ideas To Make Your Home Workstation

Here are simple tips and tricks to keep in mind while you design your workspace.

The coronavirus pandemic and lock-down, countries have barred socializing of the people in favour of social-distancing. Work and work-related mobility has also taken a hit as well – a lot of folks have begun working from home as an alternative thus.

Now more than ever, there’s an urgent need to revamp our personal spaces to fit in our work from home days. A designated workspace ensures that you work efficiently and effectively.

These designers give interesting tips for your workstation at your home.

Choose an inspirational Space

Sukriti Sharrma of Plüsch says its important one “find a space where you’d like to set up your desk even if it’s a small nook it should be a space where you feel inspired from and where you will be able to work. And Yes! then set up your desk with your computer, diary (with your to-do’s ofcourse) some green succulents, some of your favourite books, a hot cuppa of anything you enjoy, and you are ready to take on your day!”

Let your creativity follow

According to Sanjyt Syngh, “It is very important to keep yourself charged in times like these. We are all confined to our spaces and we haven’t really experienced any such situation in the past. I follow some basic rules to keep my creativity flowing.”

Sanjyt says he choose a different spot every day to set up his home office. “I can’t sit in one corner and work. I feel variety in spaces stimulates inspiration and make sure the spot is close to natural light.” He further adds “I am very fond of greenery so there’s always some by the windows or glazing. I surround myself with my favourite stationery and notebooks I love.”
You can light a candle or some oil in the vicinity its helps awaken your senses.

Do not replicate your office

As it’s a temporary set up, it would be advised to not set up a replica of your complete office, says Nitin Kohli, Designer. In fact, if we look on the hind side, we must take advantage of working from home and make different areas your work spots. He suggests.

If it’s a small home – then the first place is the dining table – A few essentials would be an extension cord to plug in your laptop. A table lamp in one corner and a mug of coffee ️.

When you start sinking into the dining chair afterwards, move over to the couch. What’s better than a day blanket & coffee/chai to accompany those monologues on email.

And now the final and my favourite spot. Of course, the floor rug, cushions, your pet to snuggle and music in the background. This is the most creative and productive spot at the latter half of the day.

Make sure there is ample of light

Choose a space that has ample of natural light, working from home can get demotivating and gloomy (to say the very least) so pick a space that ensures that has a flow of light. “Raseel Ansal Gujral, Founder Casa Pop and Casapardox suggests, “room with a view of nature works best, making the space a personal sanctuary rather than a place for professional toil.

Utilize the space to the maximum – Nothing kills productivity like cramped up spaces. So even if you have a small designated desk, make sure to de-clutter it, and focus on ways you can make your space as interesting as possible.

Strategic decor choices

“It helps a lot to keep clutter at bay. In a home space don’t fill every inch but instead kept the tablespace pretty bared-back, shine. You can add large storage units along the pack walls to keep work essentials neatly tucked away, Raseel suggests.
