One of the most popular Dutch file-sharing applications WeTransfer was banned in India. Most of the leading ISPs have blocked WeTransfer for their users.
WeTransfer, the Dutch application has over million users all over the world, allowed its users to send files up to 2 GB direct to the recipient’s email without having to create an account. Since it is unclear why WeTranfer is banned, let us look at some alternatives that users can try.
SMASH
Almost identical to WeTransfer, Smash allows user to upload files and share without creating an account on its platform. Users need to upload the file, enter their email address and the email address of the receiver. They can also generate a link that can be shared across. The files you upload stay on the platform for up to 14 days. The apps are available free of cost and there is no limit on the size of the file. GOOGLE DRIVE
Users, who have Google accounts, automatically have access to Google Drive that offers 15GB of free storage. The Drive offers users to upload files, audio, videos, and more on the Drive and share it by providing the email address of the recipient or copying the link to the item and sending the link to the concerned person. Google Drive comes with loads of side features that are missing in the WeTransfer like collaborative work and more. The most secure and easy way to transfer heavy files over emails is by using Google Drive. After uploading the material, you can generate the link of the same and share it with people over the email.
HIGHTAIL
If your work requires you to share files that are not too large in size, you can also use Hightail. The free Lite account lets you share files of up to 100MB in size with a total storage limit of 2GB. You need to sign up with Hightail to avail its services unlike WeTransfer and Smash. One useful feature of Hightail is its functionality to consolidate and share files from other cloud services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive.
SENDGB
The Estonian based startup SendGB provides free file transfer in 13 languages. Users are allowed to share large files up to 5 GB easily and quickly without being a member. The sent files are automatically deleted from the servers after 1 to 90 days selected by the user. Up to 500 files can be sent to 20 recipients at the same time. If requested, the files are also deleted after downloading. Thus, the shared files are quickly deleted from the servers. There is also the option to set a password at the time of shipment for users who value extra security. Users can set passwords for each file transfer.
