Upcoming electric cars in 2020

Electric cars take the electricity from the grid by getting plugged to a charging point. The electricity is then stored in rechargeable batteries powering the electric motor.

With many of the leading automakers taking the electric route, the electric vehicles are becoming popular. The year 2020 can be called as the year of the electric.

 AUDI E-TRON

 

Making its global debut at 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the E-Tron is the first fully electric vehicle from the German automaker. Powering the front wheels is a 125-kW motor whereas the rear wheels are powered by a 140-kW motor producing a total output of 355 bhp with a range of 400 km.

 

ASTON MARTIN LAGONDA

Unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, this All-Terrain Concept, the luxury SUV offers both autonomous and zero-emissions driving. The vehicle would be powered by two electric motors, mounted on each axle giving a luxurious touch.

 

BMW iX3

 

Manufactured in China and then exported globally, this fully-electric SUV from the Bavarian automaker is based on the G08 platform. The iX3 will only be powered by a single rear-mounted motor delivering 286 bhp and 295 Nm of torque.

 

PORSCHE TAYCAN

The first all-electric car from Porsche, the Taycan plans to redefine what electric vehicles should be capable of. The Taycan would be offered in two variants – Turbo, Turbo S and Sport Turismo. The Turbo variant produces 616 horsepower and Turbo S produces 750 horsepower with launch control.

 

TESLA CYBERTRUCK

 

Every component used in the Cybertruck is designed for superior strength and durability. The Cybertruck is offered in variants of three – single motor, dual motor and tri-motor with the range varying from 250 miles, 300 miles and 500 miles respectively.

 

MERCEDES EQC

The electric variant of the GLC, the EQC comes with a dual motor set up one motor on each axle delivering a combined output of 402 horsepower and 765 Nm of torque with a range of 450 Kms. This is the first-ever all-electric SUV from the German manufacturer.

 

PININFARINA BATTISTA

Limited to less than 100, the powertrain of the electric-hypercar is manufactured by Rimac. The new Pininfarina Battista produces 1900 horsepower and 1696 Nm of torque from its four electric motors. Its 120KWh Li-ion battery gives this hypercar a range of 280 miles.

 

POLESTAR 2

This is the second vehicle from Volvo’s electric division and the first all-electric model. The dual-motor powertrain with 150-kW on each axle delivers 402 horsepower and 487 Nm of torque with a range of 275 miles.
