Because let’s be honest, popular countries are getting too popular these days.

 

It’s no joke that tourism has spiked tremendously over the past years; in some places more so than the others. Haven’t we all dreamed about swimming in the blues of Thailand or binging warm croissants in the home city of Paris? Floating in fjords of Tromso or strutting down the nightlife of Shanghai? As much as we adore these iconic places, we could always use a new sight, a new experience to add in our travel checklist.

 

So celebrate this World Tourism Day with our compilation of some of the most underrated countries we think you should be heading to next:

 

IN ASIA

 

Taiwan 

 

There is no place like Taiwan when it comes to many things. The island is chockfull with dozens of themed restaurants, varieties of beef noodles, never-ending lanes of night markets and of course, the now worldwide popular bubble tea or boba. Taiwan’s Festival of Lamps is another sight to behold. 

 

IN THE MIDDLE-EAST

 

Israel

 

Eco-friendly tourism is Israel’s new highlight. Immerse yourself in native Bedouin hospitality where delicious meals, camel rides and stays in traditional tents are absolute luxuries.
