Now, it is leading the way in introducing sustainability initiatives to preserve the ecological integrity of the marina.
Owing to its location in the Boka Bay – one of the largest natural harbours in the world – this marina in the Eastern Mediterranean is home to a vibrant marine ecosystem, and also ideally positioned to promote environmental best practices. By reducing its carbon footprint and preserving its characteristic natural diversity, the marina is implementing trailblazing sustainability protocols.

The state-of-the-art facility is unanimously favoured by yachting enthusiasts, as its detailed infrastructure caters to the needs of all yachts, their owners, guests, and crew. Currently, the marina has 450 berths, above 320 sold-out luxury apartments, and 80 feet of ground floor retail, which includes restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, and a 5-star Regent Hotel. Its newest neighbourhood, Boka Place, features 213 private residences and a new immersive lifestyle experience – SIRO. In addition to the deep blue waters, there are several green spaces in and around Porto Montenegro – which are worth exploring, and important to preserve.
As part of an ongoing partnership with Adriatic Marinas and the Institute of Marina Biology, the marina has directed sincere efforts towards creating a green future and executing SHAREMED – a project that allows the authorities and the scientific community to analyse and address pollution-related hazards and environmental threats in the Mediterranean. The marina has also made significant efforts to protect the surrounding waters in the past. In 2016, Porto Montenegro pioneered the Seabin project, which successfully removed floating rubbish from marina waters.
Besides this, the marina’s built-in infrastructure supports environmentally conscious systems. It has a grey and black water pump-out system available on all berths over 20m free of charge. Also, an on-site paper press for cardboard and paper allows efficient transportation to recycling plants, and government-approved methods inform the hazardous waste collection service. To drastically reduce single-use plastic, the marina has implemented the sole use of reusable glass water bottles. The use of solar panels and electric vehicles keeps carbon emissions in the marina low. All of these thoughtful actions cumulatively contribute to making the marina a luxury yachting destination that coexists with and respects its pristine surroundings.
