A great Virginia weekend getaway that is only four hours from Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia, three hours from Richmond, Virginia and Raleigh, North Carolina and only two hours from Greensboro, North Carolina.
Enjoy the scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Smith Mountain Lake or visit the National D-Day Memorial and historic downtown Bedford. The Wine Trail consists of six vineyards and wineries: Hickory Hill Vineyards and Winery; LeoGrande Vineyard and Winery; Peaks of Otter Winery; Seven Doors Winery; White Rock Vineyards and Winery and Ramulose Ridge Vineyards.
Blue Ridge Whiskey Wine Loop
Featured in the Wine Enthusiast Magazine! The Blue Ridge “Whisky Wine Loop” provides a convenient and intriguing travel plan through the Northern Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia around the northern half of the Shenandoah National Park which includes recommended visits to numerous remote “treasures” including Virginia Wineries, two whisky distilleries, popular breweries, eateries, unique lodging and other interesting featured locations along the way.
A detailed map and directions which includes the Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park and the Shenandoah River can be found in a downloadable format on Discover Shenandoah’s web or facebook page. Maps can also be picked up at Luray, Front Royal, Madison, Culpeper or Rappahannock Visitor Centers.

Heart of Virginia Wine Trail is a group of six Virginia wineries located near Richmond, The Heart of Virginia! Late in his life, atop Monticello mountain located adjacent to the small hamlet of Charlottesville, Virginia, Thomas Jefferson envisioned vineyards and wines from his native state standing shoulder to shoulder with the great wines of the Old World. He planted his vineyards close to home that year, but his efforts were in vain, and his vision remained unfulfilled.
Some 200 years later, the counties surrounding Monticello were designated the Monticello Viticultural Area(AVA), in recognition of the region’s distinguished and burgeoning wine industry. Over half of Virginia’s 2000 vineyard acres grow within the Monticello AVA, and over 30 wineries produce fine wines of national and international acclaim.
Mountain Road Wine Experience

This 200 mile stretch makes a beautiful getaway for a day or a week, with something to do for everyone!
SoVA Wine Trail
The SoVA Wine Trail, which those “in the know” refer to as “SoVA” was established in Spring 2009 by an enthusiastic group of grape grower/wine makers located in Southern Virginia. Southern Virginia is an up-and-coming grape-growing region that hosts a unique and ideal terroir for growing a vast variety of grapes for fine wine making.
SoVA has made a name for itself bringing wine enthusiasts to Southern Virginia for a more “organic” and personal experience where guests often have the opportunity to sample and learn about award-winning wines alongside SoVA’s wine makers and vineyard owners.
