Mother’s Day: Wine to Unwind for Moms

This Mother’s Day give your mom the break she deserves by putting on the chef’s hat, cooking some wholesome food, and pairing it with some lovely wines.

While appreciating our moms should be a year-long endeavour, a special day is marked on the calendar just to remind us how amazing our mothers are! A fact which we often forget. This time the Mother’s day will be celebrated on 9th May 2021. However, this time it is slightly more complicated given the onset of the second Covid 19 wave in India.

With local lockdown restrictions in place & the national lockdown last year, the pandemic has taken a huge toll on working, non-working, single, or all kinds of moms. Be it due to the lack of domestic help, the constant presence of partners & kids at home, or just the stress of being restricted to chores as well as managing office work. Our moms have been working round the clock to keep the house running.

So, this Mother’s Day moms can take themselves on a date, raise a glass for all the things they put up with, or their loved ones can give them a break by putting on chef’s hat, preparing wholesome meals & pairing them with lovely wines!

Grégoire Verdin, Global Brand Ambassador, AVP Tastings and Marketing, at Sula Vineyards lays down the rules for wine pairing with your homemade Palak Paneer, Dal, pasta, roast chicken or the halwa!

    • Butter Chicken x Sula Riesling Made in a style in which the wine is light and has a perfect balance between its sweetness and its acidity, this citrusy Riesling is immensely aromatic and charming, yet tremendously fresh. The slight sweetness and light spices of Butter Chicken go very well with this wine.

    • Palak Paneer x The Source Sauvignon Blanc Oak-aged, tropical and passionate, this delightful Sauvignon Blanc is one of India’s best white wines. The aromatic spices and creamy Paneer paired with a glass of this wine makes for a delicious match.

    • Chicken Chettinad x Rasa Syrah The depth of the Chicken Chettinad is supported by the richness and the sensuality of this peppery Syrah.

    • Laal Maas x The Source Cabernet Sauvignon This well-balanced wine with seductive aromas of cherry and blackberry goes very well with the spices of a stunning mutton dish

    • Moong Dal Halwa x Late Harvest Chenin Blanc India’s favourite wine, Chenin Blanc Late Harvest is a dessert wine, fruity and rich. Its mouth-watering honeycomb and tropical fruit notes are a pure delight. And with some lovely halwa by the side, it’s a match made in heaven! The sweetness of the halwa, the nuts and saffron pair very well with the wine.
