Kampai, translating to ‘cheers’ in Japanese, has remained a favorite of its patrons. After serving irresistible Japanese delicacies to bon vivants in Aerocity, young restaurateur and entrepreneur Avantika Sinha Bahl unveils the second outpost of her premium authentic Japanese cuisine restaurant, Kampai – Plate & Pour, at DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj, with His Excellency Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, the Japanese Ambassador to India.
The evening commenced with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Ambassador followed by a signing ceremony. The Ambassador was then welcomed by Mr. Ankur Chawla from Kampai. Talking about the launch, H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki said “Kampai is the most authentic Japanese restaurant serving delicious Japanese cuisine, so I hope that you will be able to enjoy good, authentic and delectable Japanese food here and I also hope you will come back, not just by yourself but also accompanied with your friends, your parents, and your family to have good Japanese food here.”

The restaurant is a sophisticated twist on traditional Japanese Izakaya style of informal eating and drinking. With conventional furnishings, the space promises a true Japanese experience while ensuring familiarity, relaxation, rejuvenation and comfortability all at once. Overall the experience aims to transport you to the streets of Tokyo for a few meals or many!
At Kampai, creative interpretation and artfully curated experiences meet traditional Japanese culture. The menu at Kampai is an amalgamation of Japanese classics such as sushi, ramen, tempura and gyozas at Kampai Promenade. After an in-depth R&D, brainstorming and multiple trials, Kampai has introduced several innovative dishes like Japanese style carpaccio, Japanese diverse robata menu, an extensive sushi menu and much more. The signature dishes are classics like Buta Barayaki, Char-grilled lobster, TantanMen Ramen, Miso Ramen, Black Cod Miso, Crispy Kale Yuzu Cream Cheese, New Zealand Lamb Chop, Tuna Pizza with Nori Crusted Salmon Steak amongst others.
Some of their signatures include specially curated Japanese cocktails like Wasabi Martini, The Samurai consisting of Gin, Jasmine and Lemon along with Kampai classics such as Kampai Bellini, Blushing Geisha and Shinjuku Star. Other classics include Negroni, Red/White Sangria and Mimosas. Kampai offers a wide range of sakes.
Spread over 2200 sq ft with a cozy indoor setting as well as a beautiful terrace inspired by the concept of a Japanese zen garden, Kampai is a 85 seated restaurant at DLF promenade, Vasant Kunj. Somber lighting, soothing wall colors , Japanese style lights installations, traditional Japanese art on the walls and a soothing zen garden make Kampai a fresh and inviting space for its guests.
Moving ahead, 2023 looks to be very promising as the promoters are all set to expand their footprint and explore new markets like Bangalore and Gurgaon and International locations such as Dubai and Dhaka. Avantika aims to make Kampai synonymous with Japanese cuisine Pan-India and globally.
