The 4th edition of the Singapore Film Festival took place from 21st February to 23rd February, 2020 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.

Organised by the Singapore High Commission, New Delhi, the festival has received an incredible response from the people of Delhi from its previous editions. The 4th edition saw the screening of three feature films and three short films and each screening was further followed by an interaction with a film critic and filmmakers.

Inaugurated on February 21st by High Commissioner of Singapore to India, Lim Thuan Kuan, the screening started with Chennai 2 Singapore directed by Abbas Akbar, a Singapore based filmmaker, screenwriter. The film is about an Indian filmmaker who travels to Singapore looking for a producer to finance his film.

The second day featured three short films: Melodi, BTO, and Life As it Is. Melodi, an award-winning short film tells the story of a lonely boy infatuated with his new neighbor. BTO short for Build-To-Order is a housing scheme popular amongst newly married couples tells a story of a young couple breaking off their wedding and giving up their apartment. Life As It Is, the third short film screened is set during the family gathering on the occasion of the grandmother’s funeral. Its director Victor Gan during a post-screening dialogue session wishes to tell stories that are close to his heart and culture.

The short films were followed by a feature film, Ramen Teh, directed by Eric Khoo, who is credited for reviving the Singapore film industry in the 1990s tells a story of a young chef in Japan who travels to Singapore to learn about his deceased mother’s past.

The final day saw the screening of a musical comedy, 3688 by Royston Tan revolving around a young parking attendant who dreams of becoming a singer like her idol and namesakes the famous Fong Fei Fei.
