An Evening with Japanese Sake 2019

Invigorating the charm of Japanese wine Sake in the Indian food and beverage industry, Ambassador Hiramatsu hosted an “Evening with Japanese Sake 2019” at his residence.

Traditional Japanese wine Sake is garnering attention all across the country as Indian fine dining categorizes Japanese food in almost every aspect. Whether they’re are high-end hotels or street cafes that love being authentic, India is vehemently in adore at the presence of Sake.

On September 4th, the Embassy of Japan with the intention of spending more awareness and familiarizing Indians with Japanese sake, it organized “An Evening with Japanese Sake 2019”.

The event played host to a multitude of people including Miss Sake 2019, Miss Sae Haruta from Japan as well as nine Sake breweries that are established in India. Organizations like Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) India-Japan Friendship Forum (IJFF), Miss SAKE Association, Hospitality Purchasing Manager’s Forum (HPMF) and many more stepped in to support the gourmet event.

The evening disclosed with Ambassador Hiramatsu’s speech and was followed by a share of words by Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur (Representative of IHHA) and Miss Sae Haruta. 

As the evening progressed, the Sake-tasting ceremony became the highlight of the event. Guests enjoyed a wide plethora of Sake assortments; some of them being sparkling, ume-shu (plum sake), ko-chu (aged sake) and ginjo.

In addition to Japanese cuisine, an eclectic mix of Indian with Japanese sake was also introduced. Other highlights of the event consisted of a business matching and an in-depth information guide to Sake right before the tasting ceremony.  

“With Japanese cuisine receiving an increasing level of recognition and popularity in India, I sincerely hope more and more people will become interested in Sake, and there will be further opportunities for them to taste Sake in India.” 

And just like that, the event ended on a heartfelt, promising note.
