The Indian auto industry has suspended all operations in the country, ever since the central government announced a nationwide lockdown on the 24th of March 2020.
SKODA KAROQ
Displayed at this year’s Auto Expo, Skoda Karoq was supposed to be launched in April has been pushed to the end of May. The production of the SUV is limited to 2,500 units a year because it will be a CBU unit that Skoda will import in India without the need for homologation. Just like the Kodiaq, Octavia, Tiguan and other VW group cars, the Karoq is also based on the MQB platform.
2020 HYUNDAI TUCSON FACELIFT
The facelift Hyundai Tucson was to be launched in India in March but that could not take place. Hyundai is yet to announce a new launch date for the 2020 Tucson SUV in the Indian market. The 2020 Hyundai Tucson facelift was initially showcased in India at the Auto Expo, held in February earlier this year.
AUDI E-TRON
Audi had planned to bring its first all-electric SUV, the e-Tron to the Indian market this year. However, amidst the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown in the country, the German carmaker has decided to put the e-Tron launch plans on hold. New dates for the official launch are yet to be announced.
MERCEDES-BENZ EQC
Mercedes-Benz is another German brand which has deferred the launch of its electric SUV arrival in India. The luxury carmaker was scheduled to introduce the all-electric EQC SUV in India in mid-2020. However, this plan has been postponed indefinitely for now.
CITROEN C5 AIRCROSS
Citroen, the French carmaker was scheduled to enter the Indian market with their first product, the C5 Aircross in mid-2020. However, amidst the lockdown and the coronavirus situation in the country, Citroen has confirmed a delay in their arrival. The French carmaker recently announced that the C5 Aircross will now launch in Q1 2021.
