Many of the anticipated movies and OTT releases that were announced a few months ago are finally making their way onto your laptop screens this week. Whether you’re into action, comedy, horror, or romance, there’s something for everyone to look forward to. If you had plans for the weekend, you might want to consider rescheduling, because this week’s lineup is too tempting to miss.

Keeping the Halloween spirit alive, many new horror movies and OTT shows are also releasing this week, including Mansion 24, The Devil on Trial, Kaala Pani, and more. Let’s see what this week has in store for you.

1. Permanent Roommates Season 3

India’s favourite romantic web series returns after seven years. In the third season of the breezy rom-com, the couple faces a new conflict when Tanya (Nidhi Singh) wants to move out of the country to pursue her dreams, but Mikesh (Sumeet Vyas) wants to stay. The season unfolds the couple’s differences with a heartwarming twist.

2. Kaala Paani

Netflix’s Kaala Paani brings about the true picture of what can happen when a mysterious disease breaks out on an island. The disease ends up killing people on the island as well as tourists who arrive there for a vacation. The seven-hour-long series explores a plethora of factors ranging from capitalism, diversity, inclusivity, human greed, changing lifestyles during an epidemic, indigenous communities, and more.

3. The Devil on Trial

Disclaimer: This is a film that you wouldn’t want to watch alone. The documentary series is a retelling of the real incidents that inspired The Conjuring 3, the infamous trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, which is popularly known as the “Devil Made Me Do It” case. The 1-hour, 21-minute film narrates the firsthand account of an alleged devil possession and a sensational murder case.

4. The Other Zoey

This is a great pick for all the rom-com fans. The story revolves around Zoey Miller (Josephine Langford), who is a complete nerd. Based on the book A History of Violence by David Cronenberg, Leo is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film that revolves around the life of a mild-mannered café owner who becomes a local hero through an act of violence. This sets off repercussions with connections to an old life he left behind, shaking his newly constructed life to its very core.

6. Campus Beats Season 2

Following the journey of students from the Mumbai University of Movement and Dance, Campus Beats Season 2 further navigates their lives as situations take a turn with more drama and beats. Season 2 will also unfold the journey of Netra (Shruti Sinha) and Ishaan (Shantanu Maheswari). The latest season will stream exclusively on Amazon miniTV from 20th October for free.
