World Earth Day: Brands Taking Eco-Friendly Initiatives

Sustainability is no longer a question of necessity, but an integral part of industries across the globe. Whether it’s fashion, beauty, hospitality, or gastronomy, choosing the greenest option is the ultimatum. Celebrating World Earth Day 2022, check out how brands across the country are taking ahead their initiatives to conserve and protect the environment.

ARATA

Arata becomes the first personal care company in India to use up to 100% recycled plastic packaging across an entire product range. The brand takes waste plastic from the oceans and landfills across the globe and sanitizes, pelletizes, melts, and remolds it into the signature Arata packaging. No single-use plastic is used in their secondary packaging, such as plastic bags, shrink wrap or excessive tape, and all their labels are printed using food-grade, biodegradable ink!

SIMPLY NAM

Leading vegan brand Simply Nam by makeup artist Namrata Soni has been making waves for their cruelty-free and biodegradable cosmetics. Keeping in mind the major skin concerns of today’s women, the brand has recently launched Simply Nam Clean Lashes Mascara. Based on Namrata’s inputs from over 20 years of experience working as a professional makeup artist where she and her team have put together all observations, this product is 100% vegan – taking ahead the brand’s clean beauty ethos.

WOW SKIN SCIENCE

Leading personal care brand and pioneer of nature-inspired products WOW Skin Science has unveiled an interesting new campaign dedicated to World Earth Day. This is the brand’s endeavour to celebrate this day and pay homage to Nature. From seed to plant to Palak ke Pakode, the film traces the journey of satisfaction that one experiences when one is truly connected with nature. With the Green Hands Initiative, WOW looks to inspire consumers to sow, grow and enjoy all that nature has to give because every little seed holds a big promise of a greener tomorrow.

UNITED COLORS OF BENETTON

Fashion giant Benetton aims to not only use fully sustainable cotton by 2025, but also employ 80% natural fibres and recycled and regenerated materials for most of their collections. The brand is also certified by some of the world’s most prestigious organisations in the sustainability field, including being the Greenpeace global Detox leader and Fashion Transparency Index’s top Italian fashion brand for transparency.

UNIQLO

UNIQLO strives to make uncomfortable days more comfortable with the all-new Absorbent Sanitary Shorts that utilizes AIRism technology. Designed with a three-layer construction to create washable, comfortable, and absorbent innerwear, the dependable three-layer tailoring introduces a must-have sustainable addition to one’s closet.

ADIDAS

adidas Originals has returned with its most progressive and sustainable footwear collections created with a long-time partner – Parley for the Oceans. Already timeless in their own right, each sneaker in the Spring/Summer 2022 collection has been made with a yarn which contains at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic — re-imagined plastic waste, intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines, preventing it from polluting our ocean. The other 50% of the yarn is recycled polyester!

TETRA PAK

World-leading packaging and processing solutions provider Tetra Pak has joined hands with Eco Roots Foundation, an NGO working to conserve ecosystem, environment, and biodiversity to launch a program called “Happy Wings”. This program will reach out to over 200 schools across the country, covering over 20,000 students to educate children about the importance of protecting biodiversity, while also teaching them how to make nests for small birds using household waste like jute, and coconut husk, and recycled beverage cartons.

OBEROI MALL

Oberoi Mall in Goregaon, Mumbai, has been awarded by the Green Building Certification Inc. (GBCI), India’s foremost authority on sustainability in building design, construction, and operation, with the prestigious LEED V4.1 O+M (Operations and Maintenance) platinum certification. With this certification, Oberoi Mall has become the first mall in India to achieve LEED V4.1 O+M platinum.
