As the world is about to celebrate its 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, which is announced to be Digital due to the global pandemic. Here are a few things you can do while you stay home.
It all started in the year 1970, by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson to educate the public about the environment after a massive oil spill. Today Earth is celebrated to inspire the young and the old to protect our planet and is been observed by 190 countries.
This year as we cannot gather together to celebrate Earth Day, here are some interesting ways to celebrate as we shelter in place.
Gather Scientific Data:
We all get accessed to the best internet and online data on various facts. You can participate in the Earth Challenge 2020, to learn about the air quality, plastic pollution etc. Not just these as a citizen of the city one must be aware what happens to the waste which goes out of your home’s kitchen.
Act on Plastic Pollution:
The world uses over 500 billion plastic bags a year – that is 150 for each person on Earth. By the end of 2020, the number of plastics in the sea will be higher than the number of fish. After the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse, recycle, its time we Remove Refuse and rally about it.
Save the Pollinators:
Take measures at your level to protect and save the endangered species. One of the critically important issue is saving the pollinators, which is responsible for global food production and nutritional security. With the use of organic fertilizers and reduce of pesticides.
Watch some amazing documentaries:
While we all stay indoors, we can learn a lot more about our environment through various documentaries. Documentaries which portray the delicate balance of natural life on the planet, and how society upset that balance.
Take a Pledge:
This one is open to you all, how are you going to save your earth, you grow forest or support a little change in your locality. But yes, each and every one has done something to protect your environment. Because we all are part of the vicious cycle-The Life Cycle.
