After unveiling its new Phantom, the most technologically advanced Rolls-Royce ever, the satellite aided transmission is the latest fascinating example of just how advanced our technology is getting.
The new Phantom gets an all-new 563bhp 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that can touch 0-60mph in 5.3secs; an all-new all-aluminum space frame architecture bringing forward a whole new level comfort which can be seen in its Magic Carpet Ride with the vehicle being lighter and stiffer; a new Gallery dashboard; and a whole new contemporary design.
The satellite-aided transmission, from BMW, pre-selects gears based on the behaviour of the driver and its location geographically, thus making the ride even smoother. The Phantom uses a stereo camera system housed in the windscreen to monitor the road ahead, adjusting the suspension proactively at speeds of up to 100km/h.
The powerful V12 engine in the Rolls-Royce Wraith is mated to an 8-speed automatic ZF transmission. The smooth and efficient transmission has Satellite Aided Transmission technology, which uses GPS data to gather information about the location to select the most appropriate gear. With the sophisticated air suspension system, the 2020 Wraith provides a very comfortable ride with you barely noticing the bumps on the road. The air suspension is also tuned to reduce body roll, resulting in optimal cornering performance.
