What Are Brands Doing To Fight Coronavirus?

With the Coronavirus outbreak, many brands have now come forward and have pledged to contribute in their own way to help out in these difficult times.

CONGLOMERATES

TATA TRUSTS

Tata Trusts, the philanthropic arm of the Tata group and Tata Sons has committed Rs 1,500 crore to fight the novel coronavirus (Covid-19). The funds will be used to buy personal protective equipment for medical personnel, respiratory systems etc. Tata Sons also commits Rs 1000 crore towards tackling Covid 19.

ADANI GROUP

Adani Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Adani Group, has contributed Rs 100 crore to the PM CARES Fund for the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The group had earlier announced the donation of Rs 5 crore and Rs 1 crore to Gujarat and Maharashtra CM relief funds respectively.

RELIANCE INDUSTRIES LIMITED

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has made a contribution of Rs 500 crore towards the PM-CARES fund. The company has also donated Rs 5 crore each to the governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat to support their fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

BAJAJ GROUP

Bajaj Group has pledged Rs 100 crore to fight against Covid-19. The group will support government and identified private sector hospitals to upgrade ICUs, procure additional equipment and consumables including ventilators and personal protection equipment, enhance testing, and set up isolation units.

ITC

A contingency fund of Rs 150 crore has been set up by ITC. This fund will be utilised primarily to provide relief to vulnerable and most needy section of society who have been harshly impacted by the pandemic and have faced significant disruption in their livelihoods.

AUTOMOBILE

LAMBORGHINI

Lamborghini has started the production of face masks and protective shields for health workers. The production commences at Lamborghini’s production plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. The face masks are produced by the workers who are in charge of the interior and customization of Huracan and Aventador units. The production target is 1,000 masks a day. Both shields and masks will be donated to the Sant’Orsola-Malpighi Hospital in Bologna.

JAGUAR LAND ROVER

Jaguar and Land Rover have deployed more than 160 vehicles globally to support emergency response organizations during the coronavirus crisis. A total of 57 vehicles have been issued to the British Red Cross to deliver medicine and food to the vulnerable people across the UK.

ROLLS-ROYCE

Luxury automobile maker Rolls Royce, which has a production unit in Goodward is one of many companies to have responded to the Government’s plea and is now involved in the project to help rapidly manufacture greater quantities of ventilators.

TESLA

Tesla would be donating hundreds of ventilators to New York. The FDA-approved ventilators would be delivered to hospitals that are in dire need of more medical equipment to combat the coronavirus worldwide absolutely free.

MG Motor India

The British automaker will contribute Rs 2 crore to government hospitals and health institutions providing medical assistance in Haryana and Gujarat.

Mahindra & Mahindra

Offers uninterrupted service support amid coronavirus pandemic scheduled maintenance services and warranty renewals will be honoured despite validity expiration, amid the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

FASHION

MYLAB and SERUM INDIA

In order to scale up the operations and escalate faster delivery of testing kits for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) Mylab Discovery Solutions Pvt Ltd has partnered with Serum India. Funds invested will be used for scaling production of COVID-19 testing kits and expansion of molecular diagnostic solutions.

L’OCCITANETO

L’Occitane, the luxury cosmetics firm, started making hand sanitisers at its facilities with a target to produce 70,000 litres of hand sanitiser for French health authorities.

LVMH

The luxury goods maker says it wants to help tackle a nationwide shortage of the anti-viral products across France free of charge to the health authorities.

RALPH LAUREN

Designer Ralph Lauren and his company will be donating $10 million towards efforts to combat the disease. These funds will provide disease relief efforts, split across different causes including the Emergency Assistance Foundation, the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and more.

GUCCI

Gucci, also owned by Kering, has said it will donate over one million masks and 55,000 pairs of medical overalls to Italy in the coming weeks.

CHANEL

Chanel that employees at its workshops would begin making masks and 150,000 gowns per day as soon as French health authorities green-lit the label’s prototypes. Meanwhile, Chanel has also given 1.2 million Euros to an emergency fund for the public hospital system.

HUGO BOSS

German marque Hugo Boss will create 180,000 face masks in the coming weeks using a cotton-blend that can be washed and reused up to 50 times.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

Salvatore Ferragamo has taken the initiative of manufacturing and donating 100,000 TNT anti-bacterial masks and providing 50,000 pieces of hand sanitizer and 3,000 masks to local healthcare units in an agreement with the region of Tuscany.

BURBERRY

Vouched to use its global supply chain network to deliver over 100,000 surgical masks to NHS and will be using its Yorkshire trench coat factory to make gowns and masks for patients. Additionally, Burberry is also funding research into a single-dose vaccine developed by the University of Oxford that is on course to begin human trials next month.

PRADA

Will be funding two new Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in the Milan hospitals of Sacco, San Raffaele, and Vittore Buzzi.

ESTEE LAUDER

Is said to reopen it’s a factory in Melville, New York to produce an adequate amount of hand sanitisers. The brand has also pledged to donate $2 million to Doctors without Borders to support coronavirus treatment in countries that have been severely affected.

KAYA CLINIC

Has initiated a PAN India outreach through daily video consultation which will assist in adopting dermatology approved skincare, hair care and any stress related allergy measures at home.
