Vintry and Mercer Hotel to open in London

Set between the architectural triumphs of Sir Christopher Wren and The Shard and serenaded by the bells of the adjacent 17th century St James Church, the Vintry and Mercer Hotel is set to offer overwhelming views to the guests.

A new hotel inspired by historic trading guilds is opening in the London City soon. Set for a 2018 opening, the property will feature five guestroom categories and three distinct F&B destinations. Inspired by the past of its site- where vintners once traded fine wines and mercers fine skills- the hotel will play homage to two of the city’s most famous guilds whilst incorporating design elements including glass-paneled balconies.

The hotel boasts 92 bedrooms. Each modern and suite will feature elements that celebrate the heritage of the area, such as historical maps and vintage-inspired textiles.

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. On the ground floor, The Vintry Kitchen offers all-day Mediterranean dining while the Mercer Roof Terrace, with its charcoal oven, provides a more formal dining option with stunning views over the Southbank.

Possibly the coolest part of the hotel, though, and something’s that sure to draw in the crowds, is its Speakeasy-style bar. Hidden away beneath is DND, a discreet, underground and sophisticated speakeasy cocktail bar taking inspiration from the clandestine bars of 1920s New York. Visitors will be able to savor specialty barrel-aged and vintage cocktails alongside a menu of small luxe plates.

In the heart of a busy working city, the site of the hotel at the formation of the Vinters and Mercer’s guilds would have been a stone’s throw from vast countryside. As a nod to this, Vintry and Mercer will bring nature into the hotel with vibrant plants and trees along with green color accents to promote a feeling of calm. Vintry and Mercer is committed to ensure that it is eco-friendly and will feature solar panels and a green roof.

Set to offer business and leisure guests a hotel where historic charm meets contemporary elegance, Vintry and Mercer will join the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection.
