Ginger is an essential ingredient in Chinese food therapy because of its therapeutic value, such as improving circulation and metabolism. This July and August, The Chinese Restaurant‘s Head Chef Kwai-kai Lo will present a series of ginger-infused dishes to spice up diners’ appetite!
Chef Lo’s list of recommendation begins with a refreshing starter – steamed mud crab with ginger juice and sweetened Chinese rice wine which is cooked to perfection with aromatic homemade rice wine. Another alluring selection is the fried roasted goose rolls with vinegar ginger and preserved egg. This dish is inspired by the traditional appetiser “pickled ginger and century egg”, and paired with roast goose and deep-fried bean curd for an unexpectedly delicious experience.
Other enticing creations filled with salubrious value include double-boiled fish soup with fish maw, ginger juice and milk and steamed garoupa fillet with ginger and milk, both of which are thoroughly refreshing concoctions perfect for the summer. Ginger milk is also believed to rejuvenate skin texture and give a youthful appearance with regular consumption.
Guests who are fond of sizzling dishes may feast on steamed baby chicken in spicy ginger sauce, featuring one of the most traditional Chinese ginger recipes. Do not miss the fried rice with minced wagyu beef and turmeric – as a member of the ginger family, turmeric has rich nutritional value and is believed to be conducive to diners’ health.
The Chinese Restaurant combines a modern art deco design masterfully blended with the essence of a traditional 1920s tea house, serving authentic Cantonese dishes. There are two private rooms for eight and 12 persons respectively.
