The thrilling finals of the Northern India Polo championship 2018 played between La Pegasus and Sona/Jindal Panther left the audience at the edge of their seats. PEAKLIFE gives you all the details.

The Northern India Polo championship 2018 ended on a thrilling note with the final match of this 16 goal tournament played between the every so threatening Sona/Jindal Panther and the in-form La Pegasus. The finals that brought some king-size excitement to the game of the Royals, was played at the RPC Ground in New Delhi. La Pegasus, a team co-founded by hotelier Sanjay Jindal and architect and avid yachtsman RiyadKundanmal, won the Northern India Polo Championship – which is the team’s first ever title. Sona/Jindal team players were in their famous blue jerseys while La Pegasus donned their yellow kits. Sona/Jindal had a +1 goal advantage. The match umpires were Sidhant Sharma & Col Tarun Sirohi while Matthew Perry was the match referee.

The men in yellow played like a well-oiled war machine, with military precision and controlled aggression,” said Jindal in the event’s newsletter. With adrenalin clearly still racing through his veins, Kundanmal offered us a sneaker note that showcased his excitement, when he said, “Though the competing team Sona/Jindal Panther appeared to be leading in the first chukker, by the end of the third chukker, La Pegasus had leveled the scores and keeping up the pace, ultimately won the championship by 9 goals to 7.

The exciting finals

Sona Jindal with their +1 goal advantage looked set to win the match as two goals by Simran extended their lead by 3 goals by the end of the first chukker. However, Shamsheer and Dhruvpal reduced the deficit to just one in the second chukker and soon leveled the scores by the end of the third chukker. La Pegasus kept scoring freely and were two up by the end of the fourth chukker with the score 4-6 in their favor by the end of it and scored two more to make it 5-8 by the end of the fifth chukker. The final chukker saw La Pegasus score once again and won the final match of the Northern India Polo Championship by 9 goals to 7.
