Exotic Garden & Observatory Cave

 

 

 Perched atop cliffs overlooking Monaco, the Exotic Garden is a stunning instance of nature’s exuberance and surrealism. Laced with rare plants hailing from arid regions, this space offers a vantage view of the principality. At the base of the cliff is a limestone cave, hollowed by water over the years. Pop into the Observatory cave to study well preserved signs of pre-historic human activity.

 

Anthropology Museum

 

 Reconnecting with history and tracing the evolution of man, the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology is replete with numerous collections of regional prehistory and protohistory. Located inside the Exotic Garden, the museum traces the glacial and interglacial periods, with an exceptional, finely preserved mammoth skeleton. Of course, this only underlines the fact that the French Riviera was already a favored habitat for our ancient ancestors!

 

 

Apartments of Prince’s Palace

 

 Taste the regalia by visiting Prince Palace’s apartments, the most luxurious residence of the seventeenth century. The Palace Chapel, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, the Hercule Gallery, the Mirror Gallery, the Red Room, the York Room, the Yellow Room or Louis XV Bedroom, and the Throne Room woo you in splendor, as do the dazzling frescoes, stunning tapestries and heirloom furniture pieces  

 

 

The Oceanographic Museum

 

 

 Peep into the marine world with a visit to this rush of blue. Dive in with over 6,000 treasured specimens on display, admire the sharks, piranhas, clownfish, octopus, jellyfish and other curious creatures of the deep while you make time for a superb light and sound show.

 

Zoological Garden

 

A stretch of the bucolic replete with exotic birds, turtles, caimans, hippopotamuses, reptiles, primates and even farm animals: The Zoological Garden brings in a battalion of over 250 animals from 50 species that have been donated, abandoned or seized by customs. Located on the southern flank of the Rocher, these gardens are one of the last royal menageries in the world. Worth a visit

 

Naval Museum

 

The Naval Museum is a veritable visual encyclopedia. This slice of nautica brings in 250 model ships, stellar paintings and maritime objects from the magnificent personal collection of H.S.H. Prince Rainier III of Monaco.  

 

Stadium Louis II

 

The robust yet elegant sports complex takes its name after Prince Louis II of Monaco. With a sprawling football pitch, athletics track, multi-sports hall, Olympic pool…its matchless facilities make it a favorite venue for international competitions. 

 

Stamps & Coins Museum

 

Philatelists of the world unite. Rare stamps depicting the Principality’s postal history, tracing the arrival of the first Charles III stamp in 1885 to the present day, curious memorabilia and more is on display on the walls here.  At this location in Monaco, the old meets the new in a beautiful blend of the ancient showcased within contemporary confines
