PEAKLIFE gets in conversation with budding baker Pranavi Jayanth, also known as @pranavii_19 on Instagram.
Inspired by her mother’s craft, Pranavi Jayanth embodies young passion. From beginning her homegrown journey and managing an ever-growing social media presence to honing her cooking skills and going about the average life of a 15 year old, the baker is slated for and dedicated to bigger dreams. Here is creativity, and it shines most through her recipes one can find themselves indulging in easily.
Here’s PEAKLIFE in conversation with the budding future entrepreneur as we dive into her present philosophy:
1. Starting off, how did your journey with baking begin in the first place?
My mother being a baker herself has always had the biggest hand with me wanting to pursue baking full time. Baking has always fascinated me as a child, watching my mother bake almost everyday since I was 6, I’ve always found the process of baking very intriguing. It’s almost been 4 years since I’ve been baking myself. My family has always encouraged me to follow my passion and that’s what motivates me to give my best in whatever I do. The lockdown was what gave me the extra push to get into the science behind baking properly, and since then there’s been no looking back.
2. What would you say is your source of inspiration every single day?
Being the generation to spend the most time on social media, it definitely has to be the main source of inspiration for me. Seeing hundreds of people pursuing pastry and doing wonders in the field keeps me thinking about desserts 24/7! Honestly I’m someone who is extremely lazy, Baking is the only thing that keeps me motivated which makes me get up and get working. Seeing my imagination come to life is the part I genuinely enjoy the most.
3. How challenging is it really to maintain a social media presence, especially at such a young age? What is your process behind it?
Maintaining a social media presence may seem to haunt some people at first, it did scare me when I started out as well, but it’s all about enjoying what you’re doing. Social media shouldn’t be seen as a burden if you’re really wanting to grow. If you consider posting on social media as an extra thing it will always seem to be hard. I’ve always considered posting pictures as an integral part of my baking. Once you start doing that and start loving doing it, social media will seem to be a part of what you’re doing.
4. What is the vision that you have for yourself as a baker?
I aspire to get to a reputed pastry school and pursue my studies to get into the industry full time. The pandemic has created so many opportunities for people to sit at home and learn from masters around the globe. Utilizing this to all its capacity, I wish to learn everything I can to add value to my art in my schooling years.
5. Any word of advice for other young aspirants sharing the same passion as you?
I am no expert but definitely if you’re someone who loves baking and photography, without seeing how much progress you’re making on a daily basis, just make sure you’re enjoying what you’re doing. Once you’ve identified what you truly like doing, without thinking twice just follow your instincts and go for it. There will always be a constant thought of how you see yourself in the future – it’s all about identifying your passion, be it in any field, and working towards it consistently. You might face rejections and failures but that should never stop you from what you love.
