We’ve rounded up the best events and festivals you can visit in the city this summer. Because, although most people come here for the winter, the truth is, they stay for the summer.
1. Punta Courchevel
When: From July 5th to July 7th, 2024
With over 25,000 visitors expected, this festival is the ultimate playground for motorbike aficionados. From custom machines to electrifying rock concerts, attendees will be immersed in a whirlwind of togetherness, discovery, and adrenaline-pumping rides. Whether you’re a die-hard enthusiast or a curious observer, Punta Courchevel promises an unforgettable experience where the spirit of rock and roll meets the freedom of the open road.
2. La Fête des Bûcherons
When: July 14th, 2024
The Lumberjacks’ Festival, a mountain tradition cherished for generations, celebrates the craftsmanship and athleticism of those who tame the wilderness with stone and wood. This grand spectacle unveils the artistry of sawing, cutting, and chopping as lumberjacks from far and wide converge to showcase their prowess in tests of strength and speed. Under the veneer of entertainment lies a profound display of Herculean strength and precision, where every swing of the axe embodies years of dedication and mastery. Amidst the cheers of spectators and the aroma of freshly hewn timber, experience the amazing Herculean strength at least once in your life while enjoying a wonderful moment of village celebration.
3. Triathlon BJÖRKA X3 COURCHEVEL
When: July 21st, 2024
Brace yourself for an adrenaline-fueled adventure as Triathlon BJÖRKA X3 COURCHEVEL unfolds against the breathtaking backdrop of Courchevel Le Praz’s Olympic ski jumps. Kickstart the action with a heart-pounding 6,000-metre rowing race, followed by a thrilling 12.2-kilometre cycling leg with a 750-metre elevation gain to Courchevel Altiport. But the excitement doesn’t end there—conquer the rugged trails in a 9.6-kilometre run, culminating in a sprint finish on the iconic airstrip, all set against the majestic Mont Blanc. With a total distance of 27.8 kilometres and an elevation gain of 1,300 metres, this is your chance to test your limits and embrace the exhilaration of triumphing over nature’s grandeur.
4. La Fête de la Madelon
When: July 20th and 21st, 2024
Each summer, the most iconic village festival takes place in the heart of the traditional village of Courchevel Le Praz, where you can enjoy the weekend festivities and experience the customs and traditions of the previous century. On the edge of the lake and in the narrow streets of the village, artisans and producers sell local products. The popular Madelon soup, a symbol of this tradition that has been passed down through generations, is prepared in a 600-litre cauldron where the ingredients simmer for many hours in front of the Sainte Marie-Madeleine chapel.
5. The 10th ‘LES 3 COUPS’ AMATEUR THEATRE FESTIVAL
When: From July 21st to July 26th, 2024
For 10 years now, Courchevel has put actors under the spotlight during the amateur theatre festival ‘Les 3 Coups’ in Courchevel La Tania. Over six days, ten professional and amateur troupes will put on two free shows per day, one in the late afternoon and the other in the evening, and will compete for the Audience Prize and the Jury’s Favourite.
6. The Millet Xtrail
When: August 4th, 2024
The Millet Xtrail Courchevel is the perfect event to get started because it features six races where the participants can decide to run further if they feel physically capable. In short, you sign up for one distance but if your body and mind are in good shape, you can decide to go for the next distance, going deeper into your reserves and setting yourself new goals. Possible races with a single starting point for all categories: 11 km, 22 km, 33 km, 44 km, 55 km and 66 km, each rewarded with ITRA points (except the 11 km).
7. Courchevel Symphonies Lumières
When: July 31st, 2024
Don’t miss your chance to witness the harmony of nature and artistry come alive in the heart of Courchevel. Set against the majestic backdrop of the summits, the stunning Courchevel Symphony of Light show promises a magical moment that will leave you awestruck. Immerse yourself in a spellbinding fusion of music and graphic effects that paint the night sky with a kaleidoscope of colours, creating an unforgettable spectacle of intense emotions.
8. Ski Jumping World Cup
When: August 13th and August 14th, 2024
This must-see event has become an institution in Courchevel Le Praz. Every summer for the last 30 years, the resort has hosted the world’s best ski jumping athletes. More than a hundred competitors from around fifteen different countries will hurtle down the 120-metre ski jump that staged the 1992 Winter Olympic events and is set to do it again in 2030. Some acrobatic displays will round off the show nicely!
9. The Cycling Event
When: From August 16th to August 18th, 2024
For 3 whole days, Courchevel shines a spotlight on MTB in all its forms, from street bike to ebike and endurance to cross-country! An opportunity for enthusiasts to spend the weekend testing the best spots in a programme that includes street biking in Courchevel Le Praz, an endurance race from La Saulire, an MTB and Ebike ‘Renduro’ race, and 2 events for women only.
10. SOIRÉE BLANCHE DE COURCHEVEL
When: August 23rd, 2024
Courchevel Le Praz invites you to the second edition of the Soirée Blanche party on August 23rd. The festivities kick off at 5pm, where guests adorned in dazzling white attire can indulge in a delightful array of activities. Explore the stalls offering everything from makeup services to a photo booth and tantalising snacks, creating unforgettable memories against the pristine backdrop of white. Savour refreshing beverages as you mingle with fellow revellers, soaking in the lively ambiance punctuated by captivating performances from talented artists. And as the clock strikes 8 pm, prepare to be swept away by the mesmerising sounds of a concert, completing an evening of pure elegance and entertainment beneath the starlit sky of Courchevel.
