Sri Lanka set to launch its First Luxury Electric Supercar “Vega”

Currently at test levels, Sri Lanka will be launching its first ever luxury electric super car in April 2020.

Benching a new milestone for the automobile industry, Sri Lanka’s first luxury electric super car named “Vega” will be introduced next year, in April. The launch will take place at the annual International Motor Show in Geneva in 2020.

High powered and high-speed luxury car, Vega does a quick 0-100 mph in 3.1 seconds, and is a 900 bhp model that’s been designed locally – both internally and externally.

With the younger generation urging for more local and high tech automobiles, the super car Vega stems as a result of this vision. The 300 kW battery-powered car with a 240 km range would be the first-ever luxury and all-electric “super car” made in Sri Lanka and in the Asian region as well.

Harsha Subhasinghe, President and CEO, CodeGen, said, “We are ready to do something new for our country. I am sure it will be a product that will make all Sri Lankans really proud. We also wanted to encourage our youth to take Sri Lanka forward.”
