Day 1: THE SPECTACULAR SAIL
The 7th edition of Millionaireasia India Regatta unfurled with signature panache at The Royal Bombay Yacht Club on 22 February, by the Arabian Sea in Mumbai, as 14 teams took to competitive sailing on the tranquil blue to vie for the coveted trophy.
Against the stunning backdrop of the Gateway of India and Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Apollo Bunder, sailboats powered ahead to circle the nautical miles deftly, in keeping with the wind. Speedboats shot ahead with a sprinkling of natty invitees to the ‘party boat’ where everyone nibbled on starters and sipped specials against the shimmying waters, cheering the competing groups.
Ardent enthusiasts and seasoned sailors comprised the teams including our title sponsor Samira Habitats; associate sponsors Simon Shopping Destinations, partner IIFL Securities, spa partner Jean Claude Biguine and hospitality partner The Mansion House, together with Millionaireasia; the Indian Navy and adventurous souls formed the matrix as they cruised along the Arabian, in a rather picturesque setting.
Certain events are always a smashing success.
Millionaireasia Regatta this year too was perfect, as expected.
Day 2: THE GRAND FINALE
Streaming sunshine, pure white chiffon canopies, zippy bars, and an ultra-hip property: The Mansion House played the perfect venue and hospitality partner the following day for awarding the winners of Millionaireasia Regatta, supported by our title sponsor Samira Habitats, associate sponsors Simon Shopping Destinations and partner IIFL Securities, and spa partner Jean Claude Biguine. The laze and graze day brought in a glimpse of “ A Day in Alibag”. Guests arrived in speedboats at the Mandwa Jetty where the spectacular #Alibag installation by artist Rouble Nagi was unveiled by District Guardian Minister Aditi Tatkare and Jayant Patil which was initiated by Samira Group and supported by Mandwa Port in the presence of other dignitaries.
Traditional Alibag specials and an overwhelming cornucopia of spicy curries, lissome shawarmas, and lip curling pasta at the live counters set the mood for a relaxed Sunday by the inviting pool while the Sufi inspired strains of the band played on. Did we mention an entire room heaving with desserts and salads?
Seen sipping on sangrias and indulging in interesting conversations were a plentitude of guests including Suniel Shetty, Harshwardhan Rane, Dr. Madhu Chopra, Anuraag Bhatnagar, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Aarti Surendranath, Dr. Neetika Modi, Sheema Vohra, Samir Srivastava, Samir Nerurkar…
Simon Shopping Destinations created a flutter by giving away many vouchers for free shopping at its brilliant collection of shopping destinations across the U.S. of A., while experts from Jean Claude Biguine massaged tootsies galore for putting that spring back in your step.
The intimate Instagrammable gathering roared in applause as the champions proudly gathered the trophies on stage: Team Wahe Guru led by Commodore Mongia clinched the first place for Samira Habitats; Skipper Navy J24 led by Cdr Tarandeep Bakshi for Indian Navy grabbed the second position, and Blood Vessel led by Captain Sunil Kothari sped to victory for Simon Shopping Destinations in a gut-busting finish of one of the most highly awaited events of the year.
A brilliant summation of a superlative start to 2020, by Millionaireasia India.
