Rüçhan Çalışkur Bags Best Actress For ‘Tor’

At the recently concluded award ceremony of Delhi Shorts International Film Festival, the jury recognized & awarded Turkish actress Rüçhan Çalışkur with the Best Actress award for her performance in the Turkish short film ‘Tor’. The film has been directed by Ragıp Türk and produced by Karators Film Turkey.

The film showcases the life of Ayşe, an elderly woman who lives in a town with her grandchild where she has a hard life. She makes her living by looking after Tor, the guard dog of a local rich family. One day Tor becomes very ill. The family is away in the city so Ayşe puts her heart and soul into keeping Tor alive.

Turkish dramas and cinema are immensely popular in India due to the similarity of social norms, family structure & culture between both the countries. There is a growing appetite for meaningful cinema across the world and the finest of filmmakers from Turkey have been making great films that appeal to cinema lovers across the world. More short films are the need of the hour and Turkish filmmakers are making their presence felt in film festivals with unique short films.
