How they met?
Every story starts with the first interaction the same happened with Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy. Both met each other through a common friend G K Prasanna who we all know is Sr. Vice President & Global Head – Global Infrastructure Services & Product Engineering Services – Wipro. The meeting was followed by a series of dinners and lunch which made Narayana Murthy fall in love with Sudha Murthy who was beautiful, intelligent and an independent young girl. On a fine day, Narayana Murthy expressed his love to Sudha Murthy and proposed her to marry him.
Ups & Downs
By this time Sudha Murthy also started liking him and told her parents about Narayana Murthy. Like all fathers, even Sudha Murthy father want to know more about Narayana Murthy, his job, his salary, and his family on the other had Sudha Murthy’s mom had no problem with them getting married as she liked Narayana Murthy and his family. Sudha’s father was not convinced with Narayana Murthy at the first meeting in Pune as he did not want his daughter to get married to Murty as he wanted to become a politician in the communist party and wanted to open an orphanage. Narayana Murthy did not want to change his future and Sudha’s father was also reluctant to her married to him until he had a stable job and earned enough to sustain his family. This tension ended and they got married on 10 February 1978 in Murty’s Bangalore house after Murty decided to take up a job as General Manager at Patni Computers in Bombay in 1977.
Infosys and their incredible bond…
In 1981 with zero capital and a great vision, passion, determination and hard work Narayana Murthy wanted to start Infosys, what he believes in entrepreneurship.
Today, Infosys is the global leader in technology services & consulting, helps clients in more than 50 countries to create & execute digital transformation strategies. In 1983, Infosys got their first client, MICO in Bangalore. Since then the young couple worked together and provided tremendous success to the company.
Narayana Murthy gave his 100 percent to the company and its work and Sudha Murthy sacrificed her passion and unconditionally supported not only as a strong pillar in establishing the company but also took care of their home and the 2 children. Even today, Murthy appreciates and gratitude’s Sudha, for his success.
