Demonstrating the true sports car DNA of every Porsche, the racing pedigree of the 718 Cayman, 718 Boxster, 911 and Panamera were put through their paces at a special track day hosted by Porsche India. Taking place at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), once home to the Indian Grand Prix, guests got behind the wheel to experience the 5.14km track in each model, carrying out a range of skills tests designed to showcase the superior performance and drive comfort of the sports car range.
Pavan Shetty, Director, Porsche India, said: “With the help of expert instructors, guests that joined us for the drive event had the opportunity to unleash their inner racing driver and experience Porsche’s motorsport heritage. From the iconic 911 to the luxury saloon of the Panamera, each and every one of our cars is at home on the track as it is on the city roads, and there is no better place to showcase that than the Buddh International Circuit.”
The Parameters of the test
Porsche’s technological advancements were tested with slalom, breaking, acceleration, and over and under-steering challenges, giving guests an opportunity to experience the range of systems designed to enhance ride comfort without compromising performance. Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) and the Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) Plus combined for increased stability and traction both in and out of corners. The adaptive air suspension, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), was activated on the track to actively and continuously adjust damping force based on the road conditions and driving style of each guest. Rear axle steering and Power steering Plus ensured sporty and precise handling. In the Panamera Turbo, guests were able to experience the 4D chassis control, a centrally networked system which synchronizes all chassis systems in real time, optimizing the handling of the car.
Fast and the Furious
Both mid-engine coupés, the new generation 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman, feature turbo flat engines with four cylinders capable of producing 300 hp and maximum torque of 380 Nm. The 911 Carrera S reaches 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (3.9 with Sports Plus), delivered by a three-liter six-cylinder bi-turbo charging engine producing 420 hp, with maximum torque of 500 Nm and a top speed of 306 km/h. The Panamera Turbo is a four-door luxury saloon and sports car in one. This V8 turbo-charged engine reaches 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds (3.6 with Sports Plus), producing 550 hp and maximum torque of 770 Nm. The top speed of the Turbo is 306 km/h.
