Pastel hues for summer blues

Get a soothing sartorial for summer in pastel hues

When it comes to putting our winter clothes in storage and stocking up on warm-weather wardrobe, embodying color is at the top of the list. And the key shades for Spring/Summer 17? Pastels. Butter yellow, lime green, soft turquoise, breezy teal, baby pink and peach lie at the vertex of the charts.

Lending a sophisticated and effortless look, these understated shades make for the perfect this season. Here are different ways of carrying them

Formal dress-up

Gone are the days when vibrant or flashy colors were regarded fancy and formal. The trend of sporting pastels is spreading like wildfire and this festive season has seen more folks go for the ivory, peach and pastel palette than ever before. We suggest you ditch those jazzy colors for some pastel love. Nevertheless, keep the sparkle on with bits of your dress emitting glitter to sustain the charisma.

Print play-up

The pastel hues work their magic equally with some print on them. The trick to pulling these off is to maintain the focus on the clothing piece and go with subtle accessories. Bronze, gold and our much beloved rose gold add-ons will parallel to the elegant aura emitted by pastels whilst enduring the feminine style.

Dress it-up

The dilution of the teal shade yields this tranquilizing tone and engenders into fine dresses that can be worn at any time of the day with ease. A dress itself gives you the feel of decking up, but when do we ever choose a teal for a celebration? Well, this is a color that has been sported a lot this gleeful season and for all the right reasons. Adjust your hem length according to the occasion and don’t be afraid to supplement with trendy fringe and embroidery details.

Sunny work-up

Planning a day out with friends or running some errands this afternoon? Beat the harsh rays by ditching the bright reds and greens and cool-off with lighter versions of your favorite color. If you’ve opted for a bottom with a fusion of pastel shades then neutral is your best affix. The 1970s fashion has hit a huge comeback (make sure to check out our coming up article on the same) and given way to flared pants onto the runways and multi- shelves of our wardrobes! Trying pastels in such an easygoing silhouette makes the trend totally wearable.

On the other hand, you can embrace the pastel trend from head to toe by pair a solid shade bottom with another top. For a further luxe look, select one shade i.e. either of your top or bottom and keep accessories limited to that color.

Ethnicity sways-up

Candy colours took the Indian runways by storm as designers from Rahul Mishra to am:pm by Ankur & Priaynka Modi created ensembles in soft pastel shades tailor made for hot summer days. A unique blend of Indian aesthetic with internationalism can be found in today’s fashion trend. Dusky rose blooms, mint green and powder blues, earthly hues are in vogue now and reigning over traditional wear. Contemporary brides are making choices for lehengas in pastel hues that provide for finesse and elegance. This wedding season discard the usual vibrant tones and opt for such breezy picks.

Men show-up!

Artfully styled, a powdery palette can bring a subtle swagger to summer suits and separates, says Tom Stubbs, one of the well-known menswear stylist.

The summer pastels trend renders aspects of an old-fashioned, formal manner of dressing for men and its versatility can be carried from day to night. Being lighter tones, you can play with the assortments to get different color combinations and easily put together an outfit.  Pastels go great with other pastels; there is no doubt about that. Wearing two or more chalky colors at the same time will result in a warm, relaxed and welcoming look. A little trick to coordinate colors is to keep in mind that colors that lie closely on the color spectrum such as red and pinks or blue and green go together well.
