Vinay Narkar left behind a career in law to pursue his passion for uncovering the rich textile heritage of the Deccan. For over a decade, he has delved deep into the history of this region, which includes parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh, working to revive lost weaving traditions. His collection, Dakkhan Ko Chira, features sarees inspired by both well-known and newly discovered weaves, many recreated from historical pieces. Drawing from Maratha miniature paintings, his studio has not only revived these textiles but also brought to life the vibrant cultural essence of the Deccan’s art and craftsmanship. 47-A Khotachi Wadi, which is a 19th-century Portuguese-style house, is going to be the venue where you can admire his art.
