Monroe’s vintage Blancpain unveiled at Fifth Avenue, New York

For the first time to the public, Blancpain unveiled its 1930s vintage watch once adorned by the stunning Marilyn Monroe.

On October 31st, Blancpain at its Boutique on New York’s Fifth Avenue revealed its legendary cocktail watch that was owned by star Marilyn Monroe. The masterpiece was displayed at an exhibition named Timeless Elegance, featuring other personal possessions and a special selection of the actor’s photographs. Along with British actress Naomi Watts, photographer Lawrence Schiller who’d often collaborate with Monroe was also present at the inauguration.

Showcasing the expertise and spirit of Blancpain’s feminine watchmaking, Marc A. Hayek, President and CEO of the brand stated, “We are particularly proud to present for the very first time this cocktail watch owned by Marilyn Monroe, especially since Marilyn Monroe had very few pieces of jewelry.”

Purchased by Blancpain at an auction, the Art-Deco inspired watch was gifted to Monroe by her husband Arthur Miller. Crafted in platinum and paved with 71 round-cut diamonds and two marquise-cut diamonds, it bears the Blancpain “Insiginia” on its white rectangular dial with yellow hour-markers and blue hands, as well as the mention “Rayville Watch Co. 17 Jewels” on its tiny mechanical FHF 59 movement. The slender geometry and structured setting of this precious piece has embodied the elegance of time and style, both day and night.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Blancpain to celebrate the one and only Marilyn Monroe,” said Jamie Salter, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Authentic Brands Group, owner of the Monroe Estate. “Blancpain’s history of luxury craftsmanship and innovation withstands the test of time and aligns perfectly with Marilyn’s enduring legacy.”

The exhibition shall be open for the public from October 31st through November 23rd 2019, at Blancpain’s boutique, 697 Fifth Avenue, NY.
