Mercedes Benz has recently launched the S-Class ‘Connoisseur’s Edition’ for its discerning customers. This is the 4th launch for the year from the German luxury car manufacturer this year. The flagship S-Class, which epitomizes opulence, indulgence and automotive magnificence, is a serious force to be reckoned with.
The S-Class ‘Connoisseur’s Edition’ comes fitted with some new features such as an Executive rear seat behind the front passenger, with thigh support, which enables the rear passenger on the front passenger side to enjoy even long journeys in complete relaxation. The seat can be brought into a comfortable reclined position of up to 43.5 degrees at the touch of a button and the additional extending thigh support provides for further enhanced comfort.
To make the cabin an even more pleasant space to be in, Mercedes also has on offer the AIR-BALANCE package which includes ionization, improved air filtering and fragrance. With this the vehicle interior can be fragranced to suit personal preference. In addition, the air quality can be improved by ionization and optimized filtering of the incoming and recirculating air. There is a choice of six high-quality interior fragrances as per personal preference.
With the S-Class already scoring high in terms of state-of-the art safety features such as 8 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), PRE-SAFE, Dynamic cornering control system, Adaptive Brake with HOLD Function, Brake Assist, ASR Hill Start Assist, 360 Degree Surround View Camera and an Active Park Assist, the new S-class also features Night View Assist Plus which enables drivers to detect pedestrians or larger animals sooner in the dark. They are clearly highlighted in the cockpit display via the use of infrared lamps and thermal camera imagery.
Other key features of the S-Class include a 24-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system (available in the S400) and an Energizing Hot Stone Massage function with six different programs ranging from ‘relaxing’ to an ‘energizing effect’.
Mechanically, the S-class Connoisseur’s Edition remains unchanged. The 350d continues to be powered by a 255hp, 2,987cc, six-cylinder diesel engine and the S400 is powered by a 329hp, 2,996cc, six-cylinder petrol engine.
The S-Class ‘Connoisseur’s Edition’ comes with a price tag of Rs 1.21 crore for the S350d variant and Rs 1.32 crore for the S400 variant (all prices, ex-showroom, Pune).
