Madhya Pradesh signs for Responsible and Sustainable Tourism

An assortment of tourist attractions, Madhya Pradesh Tourism signs an MOU with the Ecotourism Society of India (ESOI) as it commits to Responsible and Sustainable Tourism in India

 

Madhya Pradesh is a gem in countless ways with the forests dense; filled with sal trees and bamboos, a hotspot for wildlife with 11 National Parks and 24 Sanctuaries, the UNESCO Heritage Sites of Khajuraho, Bhimbetka and Sanchi and now the tag of “Tiger of the Country” by having maximum tiger count in the whole country. To protect this heritage and culture, the state has taken on another expedition.

 

On 11th September 2019, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ecotourism Society of India (ESOI) to take forward the state’s commitment to Responsible and Sustainable Tourism. 

 

The MOU was signed in accordance with Mr. Faiz Ahmad Kidwai, Secretary, Tourism, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, and Dr. Anjuna Dhir, Director, Programmes, Eco-Tourism Society of India (ESOI).

 

The conference followed last year’s two-day conference organized on 25th and 26th September on Sustainable Tourism Criteria for India; the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, the ESOI and Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board catered it. During the conference, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board made a commitment to adopt the STCI and practice sustainable tourism.  

 

Mr. Faiz Ahmad Kidwai spoke, ““This MOU will certainly help us developing Madhya Pradesh a world recognized Sustainable Tourism destination and in exchange assist MP Tourism to become STCI Compliant and to be known as one of the pioneer states to adopt sustainable tourism practices in its Hotels”.

 

Their sincere efforts to manifest this aspect of tourism in India is so the rest of the world can come explore the Central part of India, trace with the history here and enjoy their holidays with an eco-friendly attitude.
