In a move set to strengthen the ever-growing ties between India and Germany, Lufthansa Group has inaugurated a direct flight connecting Bengaluru, India’s ‘Silicon Valley’, to Munich, the capital of Bavaria. This groundbreaking route, which commenced on November 4, 2023, provides travellers with a direct link to the heart of Europe’s technological and cultural hub.
Bengaluru, often referred to as India’s third-largest city, is renowned not only for its prominent IT sector but also for its thriving aerospace industry. This metropolis is now the third Indian city to enjoy the convenience of Lufthansa’s five-star Munich hub, joining Delhi and Mumbai on the list. The direct connection between these two dynamic cities promises to open new horizons for business and leisure travellers.
India in Focus: A Thriving Partnership
Amid the challenges posed by the global pandemic, Lufthansa Group is charting a path forward by expanding its network to embrace Bengaluru. As India’s aviation market claims its position as the world’s third-largest, Lufthansa is demonstrating its commitment to the Indian market by operating 64 weekly frequencies between India and Europe by January 2024. This marks a remarkable resurgence, with Lufthansa’s capacity to reach India now exceeding pre-COVID levels.
The historical bond between Lufthansa Group and India spans over 90 years, showcasing a legacy of collaboration and trust. The group believes that it is an exciting time to be in India, as the country is witnessing tremendous economic growth, is now the 5th largest economy, and is on track to be the 3rd largest economy by 2030.
A Seamless Travel Experience: Bengaluru to Munich
Lufthansa’s Bengaluru-Munich service operates thrice weekly, offering passengers the convenience of same-day arrivals in Munich at 8:05. Travellers can savour the journey aboard one of the most modern and fuel-efficient long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900. The commitment to a memorable travel experience continues with the introduction of local cuisine and catering for passengers onboard this direct service from India’s ‘Silicon Valley’ to Munich and beyond.
As business, technology, and culture continue to thrive on both ends, this direct connection promises to be a catalyst for mutual growth. With this innovative step, Lufthansa is nurturing connectivity, enhancing partnerships, and making global travel more accessible and seamless.
