Lexus India have finally unveiled their much-awaited LC 500h model in the country at a price of Rs.1.96 crore (ex-showroom). The LC 500h was first showcased at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show as a concept and in 2017 it went into production. Over 12,000 units have already been sold in more than 60 countries and Lexus is looking for new markets to increase its market.
Unfortunately, LC 500h only comes as a hybrid for the Indian sub-continent and misses out on the V8 engine. It’s not surprising as most of Lexus models in India are coming as hybrid powertrains. Powering the LC 500h is a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine producing 295 horsepower and 350Nm of torque. Also, there are two electric motors producing another 177 horsepower with lithium-ion battery for the energy to be stored bring the overall power to 354 horsepower. Power is transferred to rear wheels via four-speed transmission with CVT. In manual mode, the LC 500h has a total of 10 gears and can reach 100kmph in 4.7 seconds.
LC 500h looks aggressive with a new design as it gets a massive grille, L- shaped DRL’s and three LED headlamps which complement the overall aesthetics of the vehicle. Giving it a sports car look, the low hood looks closer to the ground. Adding a bit of drama to the look are the pinched waist, blackened C-pillars and creases to the sides.
Features of the sports coupe include a 10.3-inch infotainment system controlled by a touchpad, a fully digital instrument cluster and ten-way power-adjustable driver seat. Standard safety features include eight airbags, hill-start assists control, traction control, vehicle dynamics integrated management, vehicle stability control, power door lock with speed lock function, tyre pressure warning system, blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and an anti-theft system with a siren.
Alcantra upholstery, 8-way power-adjustable seats, driver and co-driver seat air conditioner and seat heater, Lexus premium analog clock and Lexus climate concierge.
As Lexus informed, it will start the delivery for the grand tourer from March 2020. Initially, it will be imported here as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
