How to take care of skin during winter
Its wintertime, with dropping temperatures comes dry and blemished skin. For an oily skin this might be a relief, whereas the dry and normal skin types have to face more challenges. If not taken care properly the dry skin can lead to cracking and bleeding, and harsh winter wind makes the problem worse.
Here are few tips and tricks to take care of your skin during winters by Dr Sudheendra Udbalker, Dermatologist, Fortis Hospital, Bangalore.
Use good moisturizers
Apply a good moisturiser immediately after taking bath. As during that time, the skin is saturated with water. The oily constituents in the lotion prevent the tiny water droplets on the skin from evaporating and capture the essential moisture for the skin.
Take bath with lukewarm water
Luke warm water is recommended over hot water for taking bath. Hot water eradicates the moisture from the body making it dry and harsh.
Oil massage
Apply oil once a week or once in two weeks over the body, keep it for an hour or two and then take bath. Oil massage nourishes the body and restores the softness, strength, and colour to the body. It also helps in keeping the body warm.
Mild soap
Don’t use too much of soap as they contain harmful chemicals and ingredients. Use of mild soap is generally recommended as it gently cleanses the skin without removing away essential moisture.
