The all-new Jeep Renegade is all set to launch in the Indian market by the festive season. It will compete in the mid-size compact SUV segment in India. PEAKLIFE tells you everything you need to know about the much-awaited Jeep Renegade.
Call it the entry-level SUV, or the mid-size compact SUV, this car segment will make lots of news this year, as it will welcome the all-new Jeep Renegade that is expected to be launched in India in the festive months. The plan is also to manufacture this all-new SUV in India itself. This will in-turn help the automaker keep the prices in check, which will become an added festive bonus for Jeep fans looking at shopping. Competing in the mid-size SUV segment, the new Jeep will be rivaling against the likes of Renault Duster, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market.
One of the main advantages that the Renegade will have is going to be its classic Jeep DNA. This means that unlike its competitors, it will offer proper 4×4 drive trains and possibly, Jeep in-house off-roading tech as well. The new SUV will feature both petrol and diesel engines.
Impressive Exteriors
The Renegade borrows plenty of design features from its siblings. It gets Jeeps’ signature seven-slot front grille along with the squarish box-design. You also get circular headlights, boxed out wheel arches, squarish tail-lamps, and prominent body cladding all around. There are modern design touches too, including the roof-rails, the glass-area on the sides and the rear. The Jeep Renegade is not a full-fledged SUV, so do not expect it to go rock crawling or mud bogging or dune-bashing. The vehicle ride height restricts it to mild off-roading at best.
Interiors, a Class Apart
On the inside, the Renegade will have enough to keep you comfortable, pampered and will help you enjoy the Jeep ride. It will likely come equipped with U-Connect five-inch touchscreen infotainment system, black leather upholstery and silver accents, automatic climate control system, cruise control, rear parking sensors with camera, 3.5-inch TFT instrument panel, etc. It is expected for Jeep to heavily localize the Renegade as much as the Compass and will have to peel off some premium bits. Therefore, a conventional dashboard and normal steel wheels can be expected in the lower trims while the top-spec variants can be more posh.
Jeep in India
Jeep’s smallest SUV also holds a lot of importance for the Indian market and will be introduced here. The model will be locally produced at the automaker’s Ranjangaon facility that currently manufactures the Jeep Compass. The Indian subcompact SUV segment has a plethora of options and the market has been extremely receptive towards these models, making it volume friendly. The automaker will be expanding production at the Ranjangoan facility by 1.5 times, while also improving its dealer count and service centres. The new Jeep Renegade should be a popular car in India because of its heritage and design.
