The Met Gala 2019 has given us major head-turning fashion goals pulled by our celebs
First held in 1948 to encourage donations from New York’s high society, the Met Gala has come a long way by associating modern, fashion, and realms of film, music and art to come together to raise money for Met’s Costume Institute by becoming the biggest event on the fashion fundraising calendar. Founded by Eleanor Lambert, the event now celebrates the grand opening of its latest exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met Gala 2019 is held on the first Monday of May, which was 6th May this year and the theme was ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion.’ The theme has, as usual, lived up to the expectations of interesting designer wear and, as usual, has given us ‘much wow! and gasp!’ red carpet fashion. Let’s have a look at some.

Isha Ambani
Ishan Ambani floored the Met Gala 2019 in an alluring Atelier Prabal Gurung pale violet tulle V-neck ballgown. The dress had the intricacies of the hand embroidered ostrich feathers & crystal beadwork, accessorized with glamorous silhouette, diamond necklace, rings & drop earrings.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra’s third attendance in the gala hit the fashion epitome in a Dior gown. The spectacular gown & cape were made from tulle feathers which were attached in colour gradient layers & silver stars. The look was finished with atop Dior Haute Couture palladium crown on her curls and a flowing cape.
Nick opted for Dior men tux, Chopard jewels & silver Christian Louboutin shoes. He described the night as a ‘full circle’ moment as this was the first time, they were spotted in public together in 2017 Gala.

Gaga does it again
Lady Gaga, one of the co-hosts of the night, who never fails to sparkle her surprises on the carpet went extra with not one, or two, but 4 different looks by Brandon Maxwell. First, she showed up in a giant fuchsia gown with a 25-foot train, surrounded by its designer, her glam squad, and a cabal of tuxedoed backup dancers who performed perfectly choreographed moves with umbrellas.
For the second look, Maxwell unzipped the bow-embellished confection to unveil a black ballgown underneath and in the third, Gaga slipped off her black dress to reveal a Barbie-pink column gown with Tiffany & Co butterfly necklace. The Fourth made Lady Gaga stood tall in a black crystal-embellished underwear set, fishnet tights and platform boots while pulling a pink wagon full of Maxwell’s rosé, hairspray, and clear purses.
Fashionable Fam
The Kardashian/Jenner family has got their fam-jam on the Met Gala carpet with head-turning looks. The mom, Kris Jenner was in a Tommy Hilfiger jumpsuit with a chic bob alongside boyfriend Corey Gamble.
Kim wore a nude beaded latex Thierry Mugler dress, inspired by the California girl stepping out of the ocean and completed her look with wet hair. Kanye had an understated look by choosing a Dickie’s zip-up coat styled with simple black pants & boots.
Kendall Jenner rocked a bright orange feather gown, by Versace, with a dramatic feather collar added with imperial topaz gold and diamond earrings from Tiffany’s.
Kylie Jenner arrived, too, in a purple Versace look, mirroring her sister Kendall, in a feathered look in lavender. She matched her gown with a wig and jeweled skirt. Her boyfriend Travis Scott donned a combat in a Dior men ensemble.

Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth gave couple goals with their coordinating Met Gala looks. The couple tied the knot in December and it is their first time attending the event as a couple. Miley glimmered in a Yves Saint Laurent sequin striped mini dress adorned with green and black sequins and sheer black Swiss dot patterned leggings, along with an emerald diamond bracelet. Liam Hemsworth looked sleek in Saint Laurent, head to toe black that matched with his wife’s outfit. Both of their footwear were vegan, Miley’s vegan faux leather platforms and Liam’s shoes.
Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner
They made their debut as a couple for the first time in public at the Met Gala after 5 days of being called as Mr. & Mrs. Jonas in coordinating Louis Vuitton. They decided to match in geometric Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière. Sophie wore a sequin embellished custom jumpsuit, whereas, Joe sported a black ensemble that featured multi-coloured details just like Sophie’s outfit.
