Earlier this year, Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele teamed up with Disney to celebrate The Year of The Mouse with a capsule collection featuring the most iconic mouse of all — Mickey Mouse.
In the Chinese tradition the Year of the Mouse began on the 25th of January and the collection pays homage to this occasion.
A major nod to Mickey Mouse is reflected with a plethora of choices from Gucci offerings. From ready-to-wear clothing, footwear, luggage, and accessories including scarves, handbags, watches, and jewelry, the playful collection carry a nostalgic, playful and vintage spirit, with Disney’s timeless star gracing many of the classic Gucci motifs. The collection offers an array of special redesigned items that feature Walt Disney’s true original, and one cannot miss the packaging that accompanies it. With this collaboration Gucci brings Mickey into the world of luxury, allowing customers to mix high-end fashion with playful animation.
Staying true to the brand ideology the Gucci x Disney collection relies on the brands signature prints but adds a bit of playful humour to every piece.
Gucci is known for its flora pattern, which screams all things kitsch. The signature print gets the Disney treatment with Mickey Mouse juxtaposed with the classic Gucci floral prints in a collection of silk scarves, ties, and pajamas.
The label’s famous GG supreme prints in the background are complemented by small images of Mickey in the foreground. Handbags such as the GG Marmont bag have been reincarnated featuring Mickey Mouse, as the capsule collection extends to backpacks, suitcases and duffle bags.
Adding a twist to your wrist Gucci’s Grip watch features Mickey with glow in the dark eyes.
For those are in search of more relaxed silhouettes, Gucci’s evergreen sweatshirt has also been elevated with the cartoons motifs.
What’s more? The super trendy Gucci sneakers and loafers are upgraded with Mickey Mouse to add a fun touch.
Fun, quirky and playful the creations bring back a nostalgic vibe while also bringing Mickey’s character to life. The latest collection is truly a marrying of Gucci and its most recognizable prints with a little Mickey Mouse fun for the New Year.
