9. SŌZŌ: Mumbai’s First Self-Order Japanese Izakaya Restaurant Opens Its Doors
SŌZŌ, a trailblazer in Japanese culinary innovation, has launched its flagship self-order fast food izakaya in Versova, Mumbai. This unique dining concept blends traditional Japanese flavours with modern quick-service techniques. Led by Head Chef Parvez Khan, formerly of Wasabi by Morimoto, and visionary investor Sameer Tirani, SŌZŌ promises a fresh take on Japanese dining. The space is designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, including a Zen garden and a vibrant red wall showcasing the culinary action. The experience is enhanced by a curated beverage menu, including in-house drinks, frappes with boba, and kombucha.

A collection inspired by designer Maayankraj Singh’s grandmother reflects timeless elegance and couture craftsmanship, embodying the grace of designer pieces. ‘Urmila, ‘The Enchantress,’ by Atelier Shikaarbagh, took 18 months to bring it to life. This collection blends classic sarees, salwar kameez, and Western silhouettes with a modern twist, featuring luxurious fabrics like silk satin, French organza, and cotton poplin. The colour palette mixes soft hues like Rouge and Blush Pink with Indian tones like Khaki and Haldi.
