In a significant step towards enhancing passenger comfort, Finnair has announced the grand opening of its state-of-the-art Finnair Lounge on the Schengen side of Helsinki Airport. From July 9, travellers can look forward to an elevated pre-flight experience near gate 22, designed with unmatched comfort and convenience in mind.
Ole Orvér, Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair, expressed his excitement about the new lounge. “We are delighted to announce the opening of our new Schengen lounge, providing even more space and comfort before take-off. Responding to the feedback from Finnair Plus tier members, the lounge features an exclusive Finnair Platinum Corner for Finnair Plus Platinum and Platinum Lumo members to enjoy.”
Design Inspiration and Ambiance
The lounge’s design, crafted by Studio Joanna Laajisto, beautifully captures the essence of the Nordics. Peaceful, natural, and inviting, the space features wooden textures, soft forms, and warm colours that reflect the serene Finnish landscape. Furniture from esteemed Nordic brands like Artek, Nikari, and Gubi adds a touch of local craftsmanship.
Meri Järvinen, Head of Airport Customer Experience, highlighted the lounge’s increased capacity and tailored spaces. “With increased space, the new Finnair Lounge comfortably accommodates up to 440 guests, which is about 150 seats more than the current lounge. Different spaces within the lounge are tailored to various needs: dining, working, resting, and spending time with your travel companions.”
Guests can enjoy a breakfast buffet every morning until 10:30 a.m. and a buffet with soup, salad, a hot main course, and dessert until 11:30 p.m. The menu rotates every two weeks, offering variety for frequent travellers. A selection of wines, sparkling wine, beer, Finnish long drinks, and non-alcoholic beverages is available throughout the day. Moreover, the lounge offers breathtaking views of the runway and airport gate area, enhancing the overall travel experience.
Lounge Accessibility and Policies
Access to the lounge is available for passengers departing from the Schengen area on a same-day flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline. Finnair Business Flex, Business Classic, and Business Saver ticket holders, as well as Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo, Platinum, and Gold members, can access the lounge free of charge. Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo members can bring up to four guests, while Platinum and Gold members can bring one guest and their children under 18. Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire cardholders can also enjoy lounge services with one guest. Travellers can also purchase lounge access as an extra during ticket booking, via Manage Booking, or through the Finnair app.
