Explore The Amazing Ocean World With Blancpain

Blancpain and The Economist present the 3rd Season of Ocean: The Protectors film series.

As a founding supporter of The Economist’s World Ocean Summit since the inaugural event in 2012, Blancpain has continuously encouraged the opening of the Summit to the public. One of the results of this effort is The Protectors ocean film series, exclusively supported by Blancpain, which was launched in 2018 together with the expansion of the Summit into a wider and more ambitious World Ocean Initiative.

Blancpain Ocean Commitment

Exploration and preservation of the world’s oceans have always been core values of Blancpain. During the 67-year legacy of its Fifty Fathoms diving watch, Blancpain has established close ties to the explorers, photographers, scientists, and environmentalists who treasure this precious resource. With that affinity has come a determination to support important activities and initiatives dedicated to the oceans.

Ocean: The Protectors examines the cutting-edge science and radical thinking at work in tackling the crisis facing the world’s seas. The series reflects the passion of those at the front line of marine biology and tells the story of the challenge now confronting us as we explore the world’s oceans.

The Season 3 which was launched recently explores the deepest part of the ocean in an attempt to understand the potential effect of deep-sea mining, reveal the potentially devastating effect of noise pollution on thousands of marine species, and learn of the latest efforts to learn how oceanic ecosystems can help combat the impacts of climate change.

Episode 1: How mangroves can help tackle climate change

Mangrove forests are vital for the health of the planet, but they’re rapidly disappearing. Meet the pioneering scientists who are harnessing the hidden power of mangroves to help tackle climate change.

Episode 2: How noise pollution threatens ocean life

Noise pollution has led to multiple whale strandings and poses a threat to thousands of ocean creatures. Meet the scientist who is mapping ocean noise in a bid to dial down the volume.
