In the realm of tech gadgets, Samsung continues to astonish the world with the recent revelation of its newest wearable. It’s time to brace yourself for an inconspicuous smart ring designed to monitor your health and provide insights based on its day and night metrics. This year, Samsung is set to make a significant impact by entering the thriving wearable market landscape. The Samsung Galaxy Ring, unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, is undeniably one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year and could make its debut in July. With that, let’s take a closer look at what the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Ring has to offer.
A Look at Samsung Galaxy Ring’s Specifications
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 shed light on the Galaxy Ring’s features, revealing that the smart ring will come in two sizes: 8 to 9. While the Galaxy Ring’s material remains undisclosed, Samsung emphasises durability, a crucial factor in top-tier smart rings usually crafted from titanium or ceramic. The more affordable circular ring, made from aluminium and carbon fibre, is less durable.
In regards to specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is primarily positioned in the wellness segment and aims to provide users with comprehensive health insights. Boasting capabilities beyond conventional smartwatches, this innovative device is rumoured to feature an ECG and PPG sensor, monitoring temperature and heart rate. As per Hon. Pak, Samsung’s Head of Digital Health, the ring tracks heart rate, respiratory rate, sleep movement, and time to fall asleep, mirroring Oura ring functionalities.
A few of the notable game-changing capabilities include contactless payments and the “My Vitality Score,” which evaluates physical and mental well-being. Another standout feature is “booster cards,” offering health insights beyond typical paywalls in smart wearables.
What’s in Store for your Budget
Samsung has yet to disclose the pricing details for the Galaxy Ring. However, the cost of similar smart rings like the Oura Ring, Evie Ring, and Ultrahuman Ring Air usually ranges from $269 to $350, depending on the specific model. It’s reasonable to expect the Galaxy Ring’s price to align with this range. Moreover, Samsung might unveil a subscription plan for the Galaxy Health app, similar to the subscription model employed by Oura.
Furthermore, while designed to function independently, the Galaxy Ring is predicted to deliver enhanced performance when used in conjunction with the Galaxy Watch 6. Expected to be available in black, gold, and silver, the Galaxy Ring will offer nine different size options (sizes 5 to 13), including a sizing kit to ensure a perfect fit, akin to other smart rings currently available on the market.
