Amidst the vibrant Middle Eastern dining scene, saturated with a multitude of Indian restaurants, there was a desire for something revolutionary—a truly pan-Indian approach that brings out the magical flavours of every Indian region on the Middle Eastern plate. Introducing ‘Kashkan’, the brainchild of culinary virtuoso Chef Ranveer Brar, marking his debut in the Middle Eastern culinary landscape.
‘Kashkan’ is an upscale authentic restaurant located on the first floor of Dubai Festival City Mall, Dubai, which opened its doors on September 2nd, 2023. The restaurant reflects Ranveer Brar’s deep understanding and his love for the facets and complexity of Indian food, which come from his roots in Lucknow, where he was brought up.
A Cultural Odyssey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari
The name ‘Kashkan’ is of profound significance, derived from Kashmir and Kanyakumari, two states of India located at the extreme north and south of India’s map. The Indian Kitchen isn’t just a fine dining establishment; it takes you on a voyage to experience India through its culture, festivities, traditions, hospitality, and indelible flavours. The meticulously crafted menu serves as a unifying thread, weaving together the countless flavours and stories that Chef Brar has experienced and collected in his culinary journey, starting from the lush green valleys of Kashmir to the radiant coastlines of Kanyakumari, and the captivating northeastern greenery to the magnificent western deserts.
What’s on the Plate?
Elevating your dining experience, the restaurant has a plethora of dishes to select from, spanning each region and state of India. The first-of-its-kind concept in the Middle East includes Chef Brar’s signature kebab platter from his hometown, an exclusive Bhoot Jolokia (hottest chilli) competition, Laal Maas, Gulab Jamun cheesecake, and many more exciting dishes to select from. The menu brings together handpicked dishes from Indian cuisine that seamlessly blend nostalgia with innovation to create memories on your plate.
