British Polo Day undrapes its 9th edition in Jodhpur

Amidst the stunning Blue City of India, the ninth edition of the British Polo Day commenced as guests celebrated the world’s business, culture and lifestyle leaders.

A platform for the world’s most dynamic contributors, the British Polo Day treated with immense extravagance full of culture and competition this year. Names like former England Captain and Royal Salute World Polo Ambassador Malcolm Borwick and George Cadogan graced the field.

Two exciting games took place wherein the first saw Jodhpur play Mundota Fort & Palace Jaipur in a 10-goal match for the Umaid Bhawan Palace Cup. Some fine play by Loku Singh for M F & P J Team secured a great win over Jodhpur despite strong efforts by Dhruv Pal Godara. The cup was awarded by Bruno Rodella of VistaJet, and His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Marwar-Jodhpur.

 

 

The second match saw Yuvraj Shivraj Singh of Jodhpur Shield and was presented by His Highness and Chris Gregory of Burgess. Jodhpur was under some pressure to obtain a win, but with equal determination, BPD VJ was doing the same. Matters were equal at half time but Janmejai Singh, a rising star, made all the difference despite hopeful efforts of Will Emerson.

 

EXTRAVAGANT EVENTS

The second evening witnessed Rajasthani trumpeters and Malwari horses to the parapets of India’s largest forts – the Mehrangarh Fort, for an event celebrating everything Indian. Peter Prentice, Royal Salute Global VIP Relationships Director and Chairman Keepers of The Quaich Society led the Royal Salute Quaich Experience to commemorate to His highness and the Game of Kings.

 

The last night was marked by a gala dinner on the lawns of the Umaid Bhawan Palace, hosted by His Highness Gaj Singh II Maharaja of Marwar-Jodhpur. A grand total of $62,561USD was raised for Indian Head Injuries through Sport – a charity close to the heart of British Polo Day and which for BPD has to date raised over $250,000USD.
