On the occasion 300th anniversary of the founder Pierre Jaquet-Droz, Jaquet Droz launches a historical edition paying tribute to the birthplace of Swiss watchmaking.

In its true manifestation of the essence of the house, Jaquet Droz returns to the theme of nature to animate its automatons to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founder Pierre Jaquet-Droz. The collection is a contemporary creation of Jaquet Droz’ spirit and heritage spanning over three centuries.

Inspired by their revolutionizing 2012 Bird Repeater collection, these Haute Horlogerie innovations are the culmination of all the House’s Ateliers d’Art techniques in a single piece. The collection is the exquisite combination of traditional watchmaking aesthetic with their one-of-a-kind automation expertise. Its white mother-of-pearl and black onyx ornamented in 18K red gold dial features engraved and hand-painted bird animation and eggs hatching. The animation is brought to life by the river in the background.

In the front are two robins, one male and other female, resonating the ones we hear about singing in the Swiss Valleys. On the right of the background is the replica of the farmhouse where Pierre Jaquet-Droz was born 300 years ago and on the left is the La Ronde River encircling the La Chaux-de-Fonds valley. The Gentian flower in the foreground whose fine wood grain is used by watchmakers for the ultimate polishing of their components highlights its medicinal values and its usage in alcoholic beverages.

Also, the other natural characteristics of La Chaux-de-Fonds like red berries, a blue butterfly signifying summers and a few animals and insects symbolizing godsend traits adds to the overall charm of the animation while paying tribute to the heritage of the Jaquet Droz.
