As Breitling commemorates its remarkable 140-year journey of pioneering advancements in the realms of Air, Land, and Sea, CEO Georges Kern set foot in India and inaugurated his global tour to engage with partners, patrons, and enthusiasts. This momentous occasion was not only a celebration of Breitling’s illustrious history but also signals its ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and cultural connection.
Celebrating Milestones
Breitling’s legacy is built upon a foundation of “firsts,” from revolutionising chronographs to crafting navigational tool watches. In homage to these achievements, Kern’s visit to India serves as a platform to spotlight the brand’s rich heritage and showcase its latest innovations. During his visit, Kern hosted an exclusive Roadshow at The Oberoi, New Delhi, bringing together esteemed media and retailer partners. This event provided a glimpse into Breitling’s “140 Years of Firsts” campaign, offering insights into upcoming special editions and activations. Moreover, an evening cocktail event at Mount Batten, The Oberoi, offered a luxurious setting for VIP customers, watch collectors, and socialites to connect with the brand on a deeper level.
India: A Key Market for Breitling
Kern’s remarks underscore the significance of India as a thriving market for Breitling. With plans to expand its presence through new boutiques, the brand aims to further engage with Indian consumers. Kern acknowledges the dynamic nature of India’s culture and people, which continually inspire Breitling’s innovative endeavours.
Showcasing Timeless Elegance
At the heart of Breitling’s showcase are its latest timepieces, each embodying the brand’s signature blend of modern-retro style and exceptional craftsmanship. Marking the 25th anniversary of the first nonstop balloon flight around the world, Breitling has also introduced the Aerospace B70 Orbiter watch, which encapsulates a fragment of the original balloon. With a bright-orange dial reminiscent of the Orbiter 3 capsule and luminescent Super-LumiNova® elements, the watch combines durability and precision, powered by the COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber B70.
Additionally, to commemorates its aviation and space legacy with a lineup of releases including the Navitimer GMT, Automatic 41, and limited-edition self-winding Cosmonaute, as sports icons Erling Haaland and Giannis Antetokounmpo headline the Navitimer campaign for the brand’s 140th anniversary. Celebrating its milestone, Breitling shares stories of its groundbreaking achievements in timekeeping and sustainability, spotlighting two iconic models: the Navitimer and the Cosmonaute. The Navitimer, revered as the first wristwatch to merge a chronograph with a computational slide rule, undergoes a contemporary revamp with pared-down executions, while the Cosmonaute, known as the first Swiss wristwatch in space, receives a limited edition release featuring a self-winding chronograph movement and 18 k red-gold case. Both models blend heritage with innovation, embodying Breitling’s commitment to excellence in every timepiece.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Beyond innovation, Breitling remains committed to sustainability, striving to create products and experiences with better materials, manufacturing processes, and packaging. As one of the few independent watchmakers producing its own calibres, Breitling leads by example, combining classic watchmaking with sustainable innovations.
As Breitling embarks on its 140th year journey, the visit to India serves as a testament to the brand’s enduring legacy and its vision for the future. Through continued innovation, cultural engagement, and sustainability initiatives, Breitling reaffirms its position as a pioneer in the world of luxury watchmaking, bridging the past with the present and shaping the horological landscape for generations to come.
