48 hours guide in Pune
Surrounded with green hills and placid lakes and City of Pune is one of the vibrant cities of Maharashtra. With the amalgamation of the ancient stories of the rise of Maratha Empire to the rebuilding the educational hubs and business hub to holistic spiritual centre, Pune offers its visitors a lot to explore.
Here is two day guide to the city of Pune:
Day 1:
Morning
Visit Vohuman Café, an Old Iranian outlet serving Omelet, Cheese Toast and a special Iranian Chai which is quiet popular amongst the locals here. After a good breakfast it’s time for some sightseeing. From there head over to Lal Mahal, one of the most famous architectural monument in Pune. Built in 1630 AD, by Shahaji Bhosale father of Shivajimaharaj, this is a rebuilt version of the palace. Along with this you can see the Shaniwar Wada Fort which is known as the seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire. If you are a photographer or interested in architecture, the beautiful fort is worth a time spent.
Afternoon
Visit the famous eatery here which started in the year 1878, the Dorabjee and Sons Restaurant known for the Parsi Cuisine. Though the menu is limited, its serves some of the best, Biryanis, Chicken Farchas and egg pudding which is must try here. After a good meal, explore the old streets of MG Road, explore the church and an agiary here. Drive to the Bund Garden next to the Mula Mutha River, you can enjoy evening strolls and go for boating there.
Evening
Enjoy your evening snacks at the Marz-O-Rin, bakery housed in a 100 years old building. Pick from 150 items on the list including the sandwiches and milkshakes and carry specialized multigrain-breads for home. Walk down in the MG Road Street to shop the some best Poona saris woven with an intricate checked field, detailed borders with multiple bands of different designs and striking colour combinations. The classic beauty of the saris is identified with the thread count, higher thread count in the weave are worth checking out.

Pune has one of the best nightlife, from some of the best brewing houses to the nightclubs, one can relax their nightlife here. Nothing is better than the Koregaon Park, where you find the major outlets, ones including the White Elephant Brewing, Flambos Microbrewery and Independence Brewing Company to mention a few. Kue Bar, Mix@36, 1 lounge, and Penthouze are all close enough to walk around.
Day 2:
Morning
It will be a good options to relax at the Osho Asharam, which offers community retreats including yoga and mind refreshing sessions. One can get a day pass for programmes. After this stopover at the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum which is designed with the Rajasthani-style and stores nearly 20,000 collections of objects paintings, handicrafts, amour-suits, musical instruments and numerous other artefacts from around the world. ‘Mastani Mahal’ is regarded to be the masterpiece to this museum, which was erected here in its original form.
Afternoon
Near to the museum there is a Bedekar Tea stall, who serve a good quality spicy misal-bread a good place for afternoon snack. Take a ride back to the Aga Khan Palace, known as the prison for Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi, during the freedom struggle. The magnificent Italian architecture with picturesque garden restores some of the memories of Gandhi here in a small museum.
Evening
There is nothing better than an evening talk at the Gyaan Adab Centre known for the literature exhibitions and workshops. The centre has handpicked collection of books at their library and poetic sessions with poets from different genre sharing their creative pieces.
Night
Walk down to the Westin Pune, Koregoan Park for a fine dining. Choose from Italian ‘Prego’ or Indian ‘Kangan ‘and relish your scrumptious dinner at the outdoor seating with views of river. Other option to add on are the Café 1730 this is a European-style and also offers a mixed menu of light continental and Indian meals or the Prem’s Restaurant- a bar and café in the same street.
