Android Q is a software which has introduced new features and level up the performance of Google’s mobiles

In the fast pacing world with constant changes in technology, and everything being just a tap away on your screens, researchers & developers have been on their toes to introduce changes that makes the human task a little effortless. Considering this, Android developers are coming with their latest software update for Google’s mobile called Android Q.

Android Q beta is live for 21 phones across 13 manufacturers. The Android Q Beta 1 was launched in March, Beta 2 in April and Beta 3 in May, and Beta 4 is debuted in early June. Beta 5 & Beta 6 will be followed after that, with each Beta bringing another feature change in phone.

 

 

The features of Android Q have been bringing anticipation that something exciting could be happening upfront. It gives users more control over apps, acknowledges their privacy concerns and has modified display of the screen.

 

Talking about the display, Android Q has used the swapping gestures to switch between apps, reach the home screen and to go back to the previous window. It has introduced the much demanded ‘Dark mode’ which is manually switched off and on, and doesn’t work according the sunrise and sunset.

 

Talking about privacy, the apps installed give a better understanding about what exactly the apps have access to. The apps that ask for you location will notify through a pop-up asking if you want to give permission to access location all the time, only when the app is being used, or not at all. The ‘Permissions Usage’ section in Settings has been designed to show which permissions are being used by how many apps, clearly.

 

Talking about notifications, the snooze notification option has been replaced with ‘interruptive’, which makes the notification show up in status bar and heads-up notification, and ‘gentle’, which will make the notification display only when you pull down the notification shade. The vibration intensity of any notification can be changed.

 

Talking about the most interesting feature, Live Caption is a voice-to-text option where the software provides real-time captions for just about anything, whether someone’s speaking, or watching any video, this is incredibly accurate and fast including basic punctuations like full stop & commas. This is made while working closely with the Deaf community to develop a feature that would improve access to digital media. Live Caption works across any apps without ever needing internet. For the deaf and hard of hearing people around the world, this is a great initiative taken.

 

Talking about parental control, Android Q has new features which gives the ability to parents to control their children’s phones and set up things like bedtimes, daily limits and bonus times, where children can ask for additional time with their phones. This can prevent children from being addicted to their phones.

 

Talking about other features, there is ‘Sharing Shortcuts’ which allows developers to create a new option in the share menu that will share any media in a specific part of another app much faster than before. Sharing your Wi-Fi network connection details has been easier by showing the password in the QR code scanner section. Battery Saver gives the option to turn on & off as well.
