All-new Classic Suites at Gstaad Palace

With an investment of about two million Swiss Francs, the Gstaad Palace now adds on give new classic suites on all its five floors. PEAKLIFE gives you a preview of what’s on offer at these luxury laden suites.

While the Saanenland glitters under a fresh blanket of snow, the Gstaad Palace makes just as fresh and elegant an appearance: five new Classic suites on all five floors of the fairytale castle impress with alpine chic and elegant English understatement. The owners, the Scherz family, used roughly two million for the conversion this time. Gstaad Palace gives high priority to continuous modernization and investments. And more renovation work is already in sight for summer 2018.

The calculation is simple. Two rooms are being turned into a new large room – a Classic suite. And the reasons for this building work are clear: “guests demand more space nowadays and appreciate hotel rooms where there’s plenty of room for privacy and socializing. We are meeting this demand by constantly giving our hotel the desired form,” explains Andrea Scherz, the third generation of owners and General Manager. The committed hotelier has invested roughly two million Swiss francs in the modern room layout on all five floors of his hotel. The well-known English interior architect Marina Nickels is responsible for the Classic suites’ design. The guiding principle for the designer who lives in Nyon is always colour from which she develops the overall composition. She discovers the colours in the hotel itself, for example in historical materials and textures from the Palace’s more than 100-year history. The state-of-the-art rooms are developed hand in hand with the owner Andrea Scherz, who is responsible for trend scouting and the rooms’ technical equipment.

The ambience of the suites is classically modern. They’re inspired by an English country house style interspersed with elements of everlasting alpine chic. The new suites at the palace cover 72 square metres. The large king size bed stands in the centre of the bedroom, in classic box spring quality fitted with first-class, handmade mattresses from ELITE (in Aubonne). Besides this, the suite has a separate living room, large walk-in wardrobe and spacious bathroom with additional bath and shower. Adjoining the living room is a comfortable seating area for lunch or dinner, a sofa or sofa bed, bar and an extra bathroom with shower. From the spacious balcony, the view extends from the Wildhorn over the imposing Diablerets group to the gentle Eggli.
